Evo 8 exhaust on evo 9
So I know the tbe from a 8 won't fit on a 9. But what about from the exhaust from the downpipe back, meaning test pipe and catback? Will it also bolt up to the 9 downpipe. I'm asking 'cause I'm getting a really good deal on a evo 8 exhaust.

As far as I know, from the cat back, the Evo 8 and Evo 9 exhausts are the same. There are two differences from the cat forward that I know of.
1.) On the Evo 9 the O2 sensor is mounted on top of the cat itself, whereas in the 8 it is mounted after the cat more to the side on the exhaust pipe.
2.) The reason why people say that an Evo 8 exhaust won't neccessarily fit on a 9 is because of the ACD. A downpipe that was designed to fit an Evo without the active center differential, might not fit correctly on an Evo with the ACD.
To be clear, the 2003-2004 Evo VIII does not have the ACD. While the 2005 VIII and the 2006 IX have ACD.
Because of the extra room that the ACD takes up, some exhaust systems that were designed/tested on a 2003 or 2004 Evo, might not fit on a 2005 or 2006.
Notice I said "MIGHT". There are exhausts that say "for Evo 8", but will fit perfectly fine on a 2005 with ACD or 2006 IX with ACD. Some can also be "adapted" to fit.
Really, the only way to be sure is to have the exhaust bolted up and see if it hits the ACD. The second best way to tell is to search and find someone with the same exhaust and ask them how it fits on a car with the ACD.
Hope that helps.

So I got my exhaust. It's a full tbe for an VIII. I know that the dp will touch the acd, but is that all? Or does it rub against it. The only think that I know about the dp is it's a new dp from ebay for an VIII. Should I just break down a buy a new dp or put it on?
