Anyone know the thread size for oil filter housing "plug"?

There is a blank plug that is in the oil filter housing, where most people install their oil pressure senders into. Does anyone know what the thread pitch is? M12x1.5? M10X1? Any ideas?

sorry for the hijack but...

what I would like to know is if you can remove them without the loss of oil?

I hear a slight amount will drip out...up to a 1/4 of a cup

does anyone know for sure?

I need to install my oil pressure/temp senders but am not even close to needing an oil change

No offense taken, that is a very good question! I need to do an oil change, so I guess I will find out tonight! I'll try removing the plug first without draining the oil and see if anything drips out. I will post my findings (including the thread size).

Theres probably a good quarter to half of a quart that comes out. If its anything like what happens when you up and remove the filter. Ive only had those plugs out while the pan was already drained.

The threads on the plugs are BPST, not NPT. You will need adapters for your senders in they are NPT. You can purchase them from Lancershop. Do a search there is a thread with the exact links in it allready.

I've already spent quite a bit of time searching. Care to enlighten me with the thread link?

Hmmm...I don't really care who they are sold by. That isn't the topic of this thread. I want to know the thread size. Anyone?

well on 42draftdesigns site they are listed as 1/8" NBT...I personally helped my friend install these adapters on his evo and they did fit perfectly

so I assume 1/8" NPT

and bump for my question again

I just pulled mine out this weekend and installed a 42 Draft Design plug and defi oil temp probe. To answer the question about how much oil comes out, it is very minimal maybe 3-4 tablespoons. I just had my oil changed the day before the install and I did not have to add any oil after the install.

1/8 NPT is the threads for the sender, NOT for the oil filter housing.

Its easy if your quick obviously you should do this when its cool!

I used the 42 draft designs sender and warner gauges myself so i know how it went with my personal install. BTW when you remove those things use the RIGHT allen wrench which is 8mm and you'll probably want to use a open end wrench to gain leverage to get past the locktite.

Simply get them loose and they will spin freely push your figer against the plug and you unscrew and you can seal the oil in with only slight drips. Now QUICKLY either plug it with your fingers or do a swap. you shouldn't loose too much oil this way if your good with some slight of hand. Of course the clumsier your are ther more oil you loose

Also it should be noted there is a How To on this somewhere
