Not the regular IX that someone slapped an MR badge and vortex on. I think I've seen some of those around here.
You can't just slap an MR badge on, but you COULD slap an SE badge on. You would definetly be able to tell if it wasn't a real deal MR, NO BILSTEINS, NO 6 SPEED!. My MR came with all the SE stuff on it from the factory (cosmetic stuff). YOU CAN'T FAKE THAT YOUR CAR IS AN MR IF IT'S A 5 SPEED. Saying that your MR is an SE is fine if you have all the SE stuff on your car. Like I said if you add the SE stuff to your car than it's an SE, it's just cosmetics relating to the SE badge. The MR badge is completely different and is relating to the TRANSMISSION and SUSPENSION. An enthusiast will notice the MR's tranny and suspension, badge or no badge, then he'll kindly say "Nice, you have the SE package on your MR". I actually have had people say this to me.

Heh, I have an MR SE in TB... The dealer called it an MR SE, and they are the largest Evo dealer in Northern California. However, I agree that the description sheet definitely does NOT say SE - it's an MR with an Appearance Pack in Tarmac Black.

Thanks!

Interesting... when I went to buy my EVO, I initially test drove a GG MR. I happened to ask if they had any other MR's laying around. The salesperson said they had one more sitting in the back. It was Tarmac Black with the SE appearance package. It looked like crap though... was sitting outside; hadn't been washed in a while, even had some scratches on the paint and a very small door ding (which the dealer is taking care of on Monday).

Suffice it to say, I bought it.

So... back on topic, is it confirmed that only 500 Black MR's were made, or is this just heresay?

sorry to burst your bubble but there are less se's than mr's, se only 2006 thats it. and its not just cosmetic thats on se's they have all alumlinum panels (including the roof 9"s dont)lowers the center of roll during cornering,so not just cosmetics, and the hid's are standard, the bilsteins give a softer ride over the 9's kyb's there is no handling advantages just a better ride. and from what ive read and heard from my mitsu tech(who just took out a blown 6 speed) says the 5 speeds are stronger, if you bought an mr for the badge of onhor then more power to ya but dont say that an mr is superior than an xI or se because of badges

Personally I'm glad I bought my MR. For those that can't afford it, maybe it's not the way to go, but consider all the goodies you get. In fact, at the last meet I was at, the first thing someone said as I pulled up was "Damn! That's the lip I want!" --which would be the one that comes on the MR/SE. So, you could just buy guages/seats/wheels/vortex generators/HID lights/and lips separately, or just get them all when you get the car. That was what I wanted, and that's what I got--at least now I don't have to worry about putting in all that stuff after the fact.

The six speed? Great for street driving, not so much for hardcore endurance runs. Am I going to be hitting the track for hours on end at full boost? Nope! I should be good. Then again, is any Evo honestly ready for those kinds of conditions right off the lot? Possibly, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Bottom line, the MR is the most expensive of the bunch, so make sure you know what you're getting. A lot of folks laugh and say I got ripped off, but that's not possible when you know exactly what you're paying for and have the option of choosing something else. Now, not only do I have an Evo, I have one of the sexiest ones around--and barring anymore hit and run a**holes I hope to keep it that way lol
