Does anyone know how many Tarmac Black IX MR models were made and how many reached the US? Is there an article on this subject that someone can point me to? I heard that the Tarmac Black IX MR was a manufacturing mistake on Mitsubishi's part. If this is true then I'd think it would make this particular model/color even more valuable in years to come. The funny thing is I stumbled across my black MR when I went to the dealership for antifreeze. It was parked in the corner collecting dust. The dealership didn't even know how rare it was and didn't even bother washing it along with the other models at the front of the dealership. I was totally floored to see one in real life. I went in for antifreeze and came out with a collector's item!

Are you sure it is not a IX SE? The SE and MR badges look very similar, same color and font style.

 

The TB MR is only available as an SE! 3 colors on SE, silver, grey and black.

It was no mistake and it won't be worth more as a result. It is an EVO with an appearance package. It MAY be more desireable because it is black but worth more no!

 

I'm tring to find out how many TB MRs were made compared to other MR colors. I don't understand how you can think it wouldn't be a collector's edition. Black MRs have only been available until recently which make them rare. But silver ang grey MRs have been around for quite a while and you can simply add the appearance package to them to masquerade as an SE when they truly aren't. Am I making sense to anyone? I know it's late but I hope someone gets my drift.

 

Not a mistake and Not a Black SE. There is no such thing as a SE MR, only SE's and MR's with appearance packages. You can get either an SE or an MR with an appearance package in Silver Black or Gray. I don't know the numbers but i was lead to believe that the black MR with the appearance package was the rarest of the 6.

 

I came inches away from getting one here in Wisconsin (the wife killed the deal ). The dealership knew exactly what it was and placed it at the entrance to the showroom floor. The sales guy is an Evo owner and member here. At first glance it doesnt look like anything special but if you take a moment to look at the details (interior, wheels, appearance package, etc.) its really kind of nice. The window sticker was like $37k though.........

 

Its an MR with the $500 upgraded appearence package... Its still nice though!!!

A regular MR already has HIDs, aluminum roof, and bbs wheels. What is this appearance package for $500 then?

 

Thats why its only $500 if its on the MR because the only upgrades are Black Diamond BBS wheels and red stiching on the recaros... If it's a regular IX then you get the red stitching on the recaros, black diamond BBS wheels, HID's, and aluminun roof which is a a couple grand added to the price of a regular IX

 

the TB MR is a limited edition... because it's only available in the SE and even the offical mitsu site has it as a limited edition... as for it being rare... that i'll agree on also... it's been a long time since they released it in that color... i was reading a article from some magazine... and they spoke about it... calling it the Black Knight has returned... most people just go and buy it in GG or RR or WW... i wasn't buying a evo unless i was getting the MR... so when i first saw that there weren't any n black i was going to buy a GG and just have it repainted... but i was online one day and saw a MR in TB... a month later i got all ym money together and went and got it... i don't care what anyone says... the MR in TB is the hottest looking evo out... and i'm just glad i got mine when i did...

I would rather have metallic grey or white on any car, no matter the scarcity of black.

 

I just got my Tarmac Black IX MR BR350 with the appearance package from Medina Mitsu. Mine was the only Black MR on the lot, but they had 25 Evos to choose from and many Black SEs

BTW, the Appearance package has the new front lip, the red stitching on the recaros, and the Silver BBS wheels

I'd like to know how many TB IX MR's were made too. I'll try calling my dealer toknow if he has any idea.
