Cool For those of you with some mile on your new EVO

Well, its coming down to the wire for me and I am in need of some feedback. I have just sold my 2000 Lightning in anticipation of buying either an STi or EVO and need some feedback as to any gripes you owners may have as to any quality issues you may have with your cars. What I'm looking for is mainly reliabilty issues, but any other feedback that you may wish to add is welcome. This car will mainly be used as a comuter but I tend to drive with a rahter heavy foot. Thanks for your time and I look forward to joining the EVO community.

Watch how hard you drive, and where you drive. If you drive it in an aggressive manner expect it to break and to not have coverage from Mitsu.

I have almost 8,000 miles on mine and commute 200 miles per day round trip 5 days a week. Hopefully this will change into a shorter commute soon. I would say if your commute is mostly on "SMOOTH" roads, there is no problem using it as a commuter. If a majority is going to be on bumpy roads, look for another vehicle. I also have a heavy foot and 90% of my commute is on decent interstates. I have been using it since March as my commuter and have no complaints.

Get the EVO man... it drives and handles like a wet dream. It shifts so much easier and faster than the STI. It has good midrange, and is very fun to drive on the freeway or on country roads. And besides, the 4G63t has been a tried and true tuning platform for years.

I traded in my WRX for my EVO, and right now, I couldn't be happier.

Airborn, meeyatch, anyone with 8 to 10,000 miles, how much tread would you say is left. Is it time for new tires. Does it run hot? I know I'm asking alot of questions, but I feel when one spends 30K on a car "especialy at 22" information is your best friend

With a fast paced driving style I have about 35% tread left at 10,400 miles.

I've got about 1950 miles on mine in a little over 2 weeks.
So far so good...no problems to report.
Everything seems to have broken in properly. I definitely feel the fit and finish is about 10X better than my eclipse spyder which I bought new back in 98. It just feels like everything in the EVO was screwed in tightly. It doesn't feel cheap...put it that way.

I agree with one of the above posters though...if your driving this car constantly on bumpy roads...it'll aggrivate ya as a daily commuter. I also use mine a daily driver, but most of my time is spent on the freeway.

Lovin it more with each day!

2 months, 3 days
10,099 miles as of this second.

Tires look good. Still have meat. Rotated them for the second time today.
Went through 3 oil changes already. Synthetic oil is expensive.

I have a rattle on the pillar between the left front and rear door
Dealer will have my car next week to fix it. It's in the body, not plastic panels.
Passenger side headlight level adjuster motor thing took a **** about 5000 miles ago. Will be replaced under warranty next week as well (they had to order the headlight).
Clutch might die soon, but that's a given with AWD

Everything else on the car seems to be holding up well.

going on 1300 miles here with no complaints. 90% of the time my car is used for commuting etc, but I do get on it occasionally and am going to start auto-xing pdq. So far I have had zero problems except that the doors are sorta short on space for component speakers unless you do some spacing. The rear visibility is also not great, but that's going to be the case with any car with high aggressive seats and a big wing.

Overall I am very impressed with the car. It feels like a 4 door RX7 with limits that are easier to approach on the road.

2200 miles. No worries yet. No complaints.

Stiff ride, yes. Used to it. Came from a 98 Camaro SS with the Y2Y package and it was STIFF.

Build quality. WAY better than the Camaro. WAY better.

Gas mileage. WAY better than the Camaro. WAY better. Heh. Been averaging 19-21 with mixed driving. Camaro was around 12.

If you drive heavy footed enough to spool up the turbo often during your commute.....esp if it's a stop and go affair....expect to get gas mileage in the mid teens.

But other than that, my Evo does just fine on my 60 mile round trip commute each day.

SC~

How can you kill a clutch that soon?

rolled over 4000 miles on the way to work today.

Zero problems.

Changed the oil twice (1200 miles and 3000 miles), aired up the tires a little. And washed it about a gazillion times.
