April 2007

An EVO X is on the cover with big letters that say THE NEXT EVO.

I just got mine in the mail last week so it should be on news stands in a couple of weeks.

My thoughts on SCC...and yes, I am biased

Them and Evos:
They love them to death. One of the editors in particular is obsessed with the evo and benchmarks almost every car against it. He took every chance to test or drive including spending a vast amount of time in the project evo. They have covered evos to death for a magazine that is supposed to be well rounded to the point where they now shy away from them (and stis) because they feel they have over covered them. I know of at least a few more evo articles coming up in the next few articles including one I helped organize with all evos found on this board.

The project evo:
Even they hated the AFC. I went on a trip in the project evo to Willow springs, and the entire way their, we were complaining about the damn s-afc. Unfortunately, it has not always been the right person making decisions for the project vehicles, however that is again getting better. That said, the car was a handling monster.

SCC in general:
Out of all the mags in the class, the writing is the best and it has the most informative content. They have had their share of hard times including just recently when their staff was so low that they were struggling to make the issues, but again, that has been recified. They are not perfect and there are always going to be some bad articles, but my opinion now and in the past is that it has always been at the top of the list for me.

You'll never find the useable content this forum has to offer in a magazine.

I have always liked Sport Compact Car. I got a subscription at Nopi two years ago. However, until this issue, it had been going downhill with quality.

I like grassroots motorsports. Tons of pages of cars in action.

SCC was the best. Then editor Scott Oldham left. Then after Dave Coleman and Josh Jacquot resigned, the mag went to sh*t entirely. Ill still subscribe though.

I believe the Sparco Evo, a Vishnu tuned Evo, Works Evo, and Turbo XS Evo were participants.

I have to check my basement for that issue.
