Mine have started to squeal just a bit, normally after a bout of stop and go traffic. Any other time, they are fine

Give it a good 80-0 hard stop... Sometimes that makes it go away.. The pads get a good bite into them, and makes it go away.. Mine have never squeeked.. Thankfully...

This is the price you pay for performance, along with a harsher ride, twichier steering, fewer gadget frills, etc.

Nothing is free, this is one of the trade-offs, get used to it or change it. You can try to downgrade to less aggressive pads, decrease your breaking performance but have the squeeking go away. Your choice, it is all about the sacrifices we are willing to take.

I personally don't mind the squeeking. Every other car in Europe squeaks. This non-squeking preference seems to be very North American (no offence to anyone, just an observation).

It's just an inherant aspect of the Brembos. It's going to happen to them all now and then and is completely normal with ALL high-performance brake systems.

mine never squeel and yours squeel all the time. can the dealer replace the shims or something? seems odd that everyone is running around with the same stock pads and rotors yet having different experiences.

Not really. Different environments, here is just a list of some factors that will affect the way a pad behaves:

- dry/humid
- wet/dry
- amount of dust road/debris/sand in air and between your pad/rotor
- type of driving (stop & go vs highway)
- temps (high/low)
- the way you apply the brakes & drive a car
- the way you seated (broke in) the pads initially
- etc. ,etc. etc.

mine squeek like mothers, only when im stopping from like 15mph and under is when they start sqeeking.
Like Jona said, give it a good hard stop, i have fun sometimes and slam on the brakes and then it goes away for a day or so, but then it returns again.

I hate city driving, but what can you do when you live in a city

maybe new brake pads would do the trick? not sure

You guys, they're gonna freakin' squeak now and then. It's not a big deal. If they're not squeaking yet, they will eventually. If you don't want them to squeak, install some regular lancer brakes on your Evo. This was even addressed on Mitsu's writeup before the release of the Evo. It's COMPLETELY normal and there's absolutely nothing wrong with your brakes.

Ahhmmm ... yes and no. The brembos will squeal, however the type of brake squeal SilverEvoOwner is having is usually indicative of a bad shim. Its more of a "Shreak!!!". He used the description "real bad"; Shim noise is so loud that people 5-7 car lengths away will look around... This squealing is MUCH louder than the normal one is speaking about in their promo.

This happened to me, I changed the shims... and its gone.

I did not find any references to "shims" on the link above you provided.
