Anyone making big power on stock LICP?
The Stock lower IC pipe is a restriction in the way it is designed. It softens the blow of the turbo and curbs the spoolup for sure but you get a smoother power band and less of a turbo feel. It has give and some wacky bends that are in fact a restriction. The upper Pipe is a VERY nice design and changing it will only yield reliability if you use some T-Bolt clamps. My stupid pipes blew off when I was and still am 100% stock.
Changing a lower IC pipe to an AMS/Buschur design adds low end torque for the simple fact it does spool faster. It RAMPS that boost up so instead of a smother push you get a THWACK!!!!!!!!!! And your off. Not only that the bends and the inner diameter are optimal for flow and volume meaning that the turbo doesn't work as hard. More importantly boost does not fall off as fast so you realize a gain as well in the upper RPMS.
In my personal experience from a before and after dyno chart I picked up a 11 WHP gain and a torque spike which gave me a much improved sense of acceleration. Throttle response is more sensitive because there is less of a cushion between you and the turbo.
It is a great mod, 100's of Evo owners will attest to exactly what have just described and for those who don't believe IDK what to tell you, your just wrong.
None of you have been shot into space to see the curvature of the Earth but you all believe it is round; do you need a dyno chart for that one too?

Running a better time from just a lower IC pipe? I doubt it. Just the same if you take an intake slap it on a run a 1/4 mile you will probably be even slower. This item works well with all other mods especially when tuned. You geta bigger torque spike. If you can launch this will improve you 60 foot and now your boost isn't falling off as fast so your midrange is defiantly improved as your are flying down the track.
Alone I would say no, with proper mods and a tune I would say yes.

IDK how you came up with that but it is a HUGE mod on the VIII's and if anything will have less of an impact on the IX as it has improved architecture over the VIII. I did the mod on my VIII and the results were immediately felt.

The Injen upper/lower/intake kit is poorly designed in terms of fitment. The intake has to wedge against a engine component and the upper IC pipe fitment isn't the best either. The lower is ok but not as good as other kits like the Nisei for example..
Yes I have, the UR series and it was one of the 1st kits and it was VERY heavy but painted to match the valve cover. It fit as stock it was awesome

AMS has average gains of like 8-10hp on their website I think. Buschur also recommends it FWIW. It's a cheap part to be had and a pretty easy install after you get that darn undertray off!
Who would have thought asking for dyno chart for a part where people have claimed whp gain would result in such controversy! Unfortunately, no one has furnished any type of information.
I'll just do a before and after dyno myself when I get tuned this summer. Since my car will be on the dyno anyway I'll swap my stock LICP back in as my baseline.
Contrary to what people assume, I have an interest in positive results (just because I asked for evidence to a claim doesn't mean I was looking to dispute it, it means I was asking for evidence
) . $150 for 5whp is par for the course and I'll take it.So, hopefully I can get my tuner to help me out with the LICP test and I'll bump this thread (assuming it doesn't get locked
) with my results for all to embrace, dispute, or shove up their *** for all I care.Fair enough?

two things:
1. think about the sample population you're talking about. general consensus among people that have spent the money for the part and expect everything you've described (as far as intended improvements) is hardly evidence.
2. i've seen the curvature of the earth with my own eyes. i've also seen enough secondary sources to sell me on the earth being round. still waiting on a dyno chart, though.
again, this whole thing is worthless without proof. butt dynos, good faith estimates, i swear it feels better, or somewhat correct sounding guesses about fluid dynamics and the operation of compressors don't even qualify as tertiary sources of evidence.
still sounds to me like a lot of conjecture.
Actually, there's video footage of earth from space which is akin to a dyno chart in this situation. You know, some type of evidence?

Prove its is from space? Have you been on a Rocket? I doubt anyone on here has been on a shuttle let alone space. Old maps used to have the edges of the world drawn on it. The dyno claims are 100% witnessed and realized, IDK why you are doubting this. Not one negative claim on this mod. It is rare for one to Dyno and then remove the Lower Pipe and add a better pipe simply because of the costs involved and labor. Most people just slap it on and then tune.
As stated before, pm Bushcur on dyno info. I paid $150 for a used set of LPI pipes, that could lower your par to an Eagle.

Buy the part, I promise results, that's all I can tell you, that's all anyone who runs one can tell you
Just to throw yet more controversy into the picture of "proof" all you really need to do is goto the ocean. Anyone thats been sailing can watch ships "sink" into the distance.
i got my old evo 8 04 gsr .IT had 350 whp and 344 wtq. with factory turbo and the whole factory intercooler set up.LICP FMIC UICP.
and the best bang for the $ = XSengeneering.
the whole set up LICP FMIC UICP + mini battery kit around $1000.
it's a very nice and pruven set up.looking sharp too.
and any one who say the factory is not restricted here is one pictures
factory vs aftermarket licp.
i hope no one need more proof then your own eye.and those who saying not much different...
