got patience?

With all this news about the Evo arriving in January of next year, would you guys be able to hold out on the wait? Speaking for myself, I'm trying hard to wait for it but when you think of it it's a hell of a long wait, about 10 more months! Also, you have to think of the demand and the long line of people waiting to get the car, it might even hold many of us back to wait until February or March of next year!

I've always had my eyes set on the Evo, but all this hype and waiting is driving me insane; I had originally planned to buy a new car many months ago. I just hope I can wait it out without being tempted to buy either the RX-8 or the 350z, both which are extremely fine built rides. Hope you guys wish me luck on waiting it out.
Just had to throw this thought out because it's been driving me insane!
Is it just me or are some of you also keep constantly think, "Evo, Evo, Evo, Evo..."

All I've got to say is, why didn't they bring it over like what...a year or so earlier...so I could get at TME! Then again, who would know who Tommi was...argh. I would've sold my soul, family, stolen stuff etc to get one...Oh well...Just have to wait 'til later on in the game to get one.

hey pjal,
Seriously though, after the long *** wait i'm looking to be active with my Evo, like participating in Autocross, race events, etc. But my whole intention is to get something started with a Lan - Evo car crew thing in California. If it happens, I hope this forum can develop into a huge, central Lan - Evo car team, international! I guess I'm dreaming, but hey any start, like forming one here in Cali I think will be a good idea. I know for sure that there's a large group of us here to get one going.

You're fretting to much. There's no doubt in my mind that the Evo will be a huge success offering such blistering performance for such a (relatively) low price. As for just California, I can guarantee you'll have no trouble putting together a team (as I knock on wood not to get a GT-A). I'd love to Auto-X an Evo, just imagine how people would look at ya! Oh well. Being 18 isn't any good and starting college isn't a help either. I've started talking my brother into an Evo since he wants to get rid of his V6 Accord. No worries here. The Evo is an Evo, those who understand what that means might be few and far between but it's still a club that I'd really like to be in.

Nothing wrong with an IS300. It is quite a formidable car if done/used right. I don't want this to turn into a flame war so just be careful what we say. Thanks.

When I was 17, my first car was a 1986 Corolla GT-S. My cousin brought home some Option Drift Videos and I wanted to learn how to, drift so badly. The car wasn't much; I bought it for 1200 dollars...but it was my own and I loved it. EvoPenguin, I believe that if your dream car is under 30k, you should do whatever means necessary to purchase the car, because life is just that much sweeter when you have your fantasy car parked in your garage. I'm 19 now, and I've earned 20k working my *** off in many jobs while attending college and hopefully I can earn enough to purchase my next car. If you do get an evo though, I hope you do more than just smoke Lexus IS300s because you wouldn't be using your evo up to it's full capabilities, and that would be shameful. javascript:smilie('')

If yer thinkin about autocross....

You know how badly the Evo will beat down the RX-8 and the 350z right??

The wait'll be worth it.....

I can wait it out. I was just about to break down and buy a WRX when ever I read that the EVO was indeed coming. I would of probably purchased a WRX last year, but I read the EVO may be coming this year when AMI news weekly first broke the story last April. I have patiently been waiting ever since.

Just think though fellas when the EVO does come out, if you are fortunate enough to get one and they are limited to 3500 like I have been told, you will have one rare high performance sedan. When the frenzy starts you will be the envy of many each time you pull up to the traffic light and dust off a C5 or SS Z28.

Later,
EJ:headbng2:

uh...i dont think most ppl in america would give a **** about a mitsubishi...let alone be jealous of it. its all about name brand recognition and mitsubishi is way on the bottom. sure its performance is good but its build quality does suck...and no body will even know about its perforamnce unless they are ricebois dreaming about ownin one or ppl who are actually plannin on buying one. if you pulled up to a light in a evo...most ppl will think it looks ridiculous...and that it sucks since its not a bmw or mercedes

Does that mean that if I rolled up on a Mustang Cobra I wouldn't be envious.?

Ford makes ****ty cars.....but the Cobra would beat my Saturn down like it's job. So I'm definately envious of it. I think you underestimate the drawing power of the Evo. Everyone that I've talked to about how I'm getting the Evo has said "yer gettin THAT?? wow...it's coming over?? sweet....I should probably think about gettin one"

Nissan isn't necessarily high on the list either, but if anybody who has half a brain saw a Skyline GT-R on the road.....they'd probably mess their pants.

Just a thought

You have a good point. The rednecks will indeed think that when they pull up in their crude performance cars like mustangs and Z-28's, but once the word gets out what the EVO is and how well it can perform it will earn respect and heads will turn. Just like it did for the grand national.

Hell, it is already happening for the WRX right now thanks to positive press in the car mags. just the other day I was talking to a few redneck coworkers who were saying how impressed they are with the WRX and that they want to go test drive one( maybe even get rid of their mustang ) another friend of mine was talking about getting rid of his SS Z28 and getting a WRX so he can get better gas mileage, still have fun driving, and keep the miles of his C5 vette.

I can't comment on the build quality of EVO , but my past experience with products has not been that good. My Starion and Conquest TSI and Eagle Talon TSI AWD were all poorly built compared to other Nissans, Honda, and Toyota's I have owned. However everything I have read about the EVo whether in a U.S. mag or in brittish publication has comented on the impressive improved build quality of the EVO.

Regards,
EJ

Interesting input/remarks from all of you. I am looking forward to the purchase of an Evo, eventhough it'll be a long, painful wait! However, I think all the fun of owning one would be all worth the wait and $$$. I also hope to participate in autocross events and would really love to form/join any Evo clubs in the area. I think forming a group with common rides/interests will make the fun and excitement much more merrier and fullfilling for all Evo enthusiasts! :headbng2:

I hope when ever the EVo does eventually come out that this discussion forum will grow to be as helpfull and active as the thesupraforums.com. It would be great to have a place where you can get the latest information on mods, or group buys, and even EVO meets like on some of the other big post boards.

Regards,
EJ
