I only let my best friend, or my friend that has an evo (we swap) drive my car. Or if I am tired I throw the keys to someone I trust.

Learn to say no and then ignore them they will learn to respect you.

You can say I don't feel comfortable with that and then just change the subject.

take care.

Yeah, some people dont know what "no" means. When I had my 350z my friend asked me if he could use my car to learn how to drive stick. I told him to sell his auto, buy a stickshift and learn how to drive.

i know two guys, both of them let their friend drive the car, both ended in a total loss of the evo.

Grow some ***** and say no. Family members share everything and thats cool. Friends it is easy to say no and if they can't accept/respect your decision they probably aren't your friend in the first place.

+1.

I'm glad this thread popped up because I was feeling guilty not letting friends drive my car too. I don't feel comfortable letting people drive my car because the clutch is tricky and the steering ratio is a lot quicker than what most people are used to.

I would only let someone drive it who could and would be able to fix it if anything happened. Therefor I never let anyone drive mine.

Shifting at 6k is not trashing it. Redline is 7k and the stock rev limiter is 7.6k(?).

If anyone drove my car and shifted at 6k I'd tell them to get the **** out and go test drive a minivan.

tell them what i tell him. my rule of thumb is that if you can't afford to fix what you could possibly break, then you can't drive it.

Right on guys! Nobody drives my Evo unless I trust them enough not to jack it up or if something goes wrong, they'll take care of it. So far this is limited to my immediate family. And even some of them are off the list because I know they don't have the skillz to handle the Evo.
