Is anyone else's oil dipstick poping out?

Is anyone else's oil dipstick poping out? just got a used evo and the day after i changed the oil the dipstick poped out creating a huge mess. it has so far happened to me 3 times and i finnaly have had enough. i ordeed the B.R. dip stick spring and for right no i have a zip tie around it. ive heard that your comprssion is to high and you have blow by. was thinking of having my comppresion checked but i dont know why the dip stick only poped out after i changed the oil?
(and yes i know i just had a tread like this but i need a good anwser)

Maybe when they changed your oil, they didn't plug it in all the way?

Sounds like the effect of blow-by, but that would only happen if your head gasket is going bad, or you have cracked cylinder liners. What's the color of your oil on your oil cap? If it's a milkish brown, that's a bad sign. Check your coolant level also.. if it's rising and you're not putting anything in.. that's another sign.

I still dont see hope people can say this is not a problem, your dipstick popping out is one thing. I had that happening replaced the o-ring and crimped the tube the tiniest bit. But when oil is physically being forced up the dip stick from the oil pan and shooting out how is that not a problem. someone please explain this to me.

How is this a common problem?

I know a lot of people with Evos and working at a shop tons of them have come by. None of them have dipsticks just shooting off.

I was being serious when I asked if you plugged it in all the way. Has the only time it happened after you changed your oil?

Evos don't normally blow by. It's not a Subie.

It IS a 4G63, essentially...

DSM's have been haunted with this issue since their creation in 1989. It's very very common for them and this isn't the first thread on the "dipstick" popping out issue. I had 0 problems with my DSM but the dipstick popped out. My fix was just crimping the top of the tube a bit. This is just like the Brembo brake issue, some guys have the peeling and cracking, and some don't, some have a popping dipstick, some don't. One of the most famous DSM'ers (Buschur) out there has a "fix" and his fix does not involve going into detail about any "problems" with the car, it's just something that happens on some Evo's.

I have never had an issue with my dipstick. 36k miles. I did zip tie it down when I went to the track on Saturday.

a poor sealing pvc valve can cause this as well. it would be like a boost leak direct into crankcase.

44k, 24 psi, no popping dipstick. Check your compression, you probably are getting alot of blow by. Also try replacing your PCV valve.

Ok yes buschur has the fix for a dip stick popping out all the time but I dont think thats the same problem as oil shooting out of the dip stick hole. that would mean theres an excess of pressure and I just dont see how just sealing it would fix anything as there would still be an excess of pressure build up which just doesnt have anywhere to go now. I have had both problems and if your shooting out oil when hitting high boost check your PCV if its all the time though could be something else.
