Economic Driving :D
wow, i'm actually kinda suprised. I typically get about 26 miles to the gallon. In fact after a day of auto cross i still got 21 mpg.
And yeah, honda's gas gauge messes with you. I made that mistake when I was 16 and assumed i'd make it further than I thought when i looked at the halfway mark. Same with my Evo. Nothing to worry about.

Last time I was at autobahn south the guy I was riding with burned about half a tank in one 20 min session

I get 22-22.5mpg no matter how I drive, I do want a JDM rear with the diffuser though!
i stopped caring.... if i drive like a jackass with1/4 left im just over 200 miles. if i drive like a 90 year old guy i make 230-240
all city driving....
i rather get my moneys worth, its no luxury car =-p

To get the best gas mileage out of the Evo, do the following:
1.) Stay out of boost
2.) Get a free flowing exhaust system (no cat, 3 inch turbo back, manifold, etc.)
3.) Get a free flowing intake system
4.) Get a tune! This will lean out your fuel curve and take away unnecessary fuel in your fuel maps.
However the best thing to do to get better gas mileage:
Buy a Toyota.

this isn't necessarily true. lets say the car was running lean, and the tune made it more rich, thats less gas mileage. also, the tune doesn't affect the closed loop operation, so any time your simply cruising or idling, your getting the same MPG regardless of being tuned or not.
Some of the people on this board just don't get it. It has nothing to do with "not driving the car to its potential" or whatever. When you're just commuting there is no point in boosting to a hard stop and boosting to take off. I drove to San Francisco a few days ago and got 351 miles out of the tank. Put in about 12.3 gallons to fill it up. Got about 28 mpg out of that tank. Save beating on the car for the track or the twisty back roads.

this past weekend went upstate again with my current setup...
my follow traffic speed was 75-85mph (they drive really fast!!!) for most of the time, with some short bursts on 4th and 5th gear to anything from 110 to 125mph...
24.7 mpg!!!
on the same trip my friend with Toyota Prius, with the same average speeds except the hard accelarations he got 51 mpg!!!!!

I averaged 27.23 mpg ona tank on my road trip, averaging 80mph... and even hit 100 at least once. I was surprised... I found that the gas you get makes a big difference... I am thinking that 93 oct Shell V-Power is the best so far.

I just went 270 miles on a little less than 3/4 tank. It worked out to be 24.8 mpg. The driving reflected approximately 50% hwy/ 50% city. One of my best tanks so far since I normal do city driving. I would assume that if I was on the hwy most of the tank, my mpg would be 26-27. I can thank the tune I have for leaning out the car for the increased mpg.
Did some math

1 Gallon = 3.79liters
Price/liter here in Belgium = 1.35Euro
Price/gallon here would be 1.35*3.79 = 5.116Euro/Gallon
1 Euro = 1.36USD
So price per Gallon over there would be 5.116*1.36 = 6.95$/Gallon
We pay 6.95$/Gallon over here in Belgium
