Lower heat shield--O2 install

I'm installing an O2 housing and was wondering anyone who's done it before has gotten the lower heat shield off.

I have stock radiator and I've heard of people doing it without taking it out.

I have all the bolts out and the heat shield is just hanging there but I can't lift it out

Any suggestions?

go to evomoto's website they have an install guide, i took my rad off when i did mine i also had to cut the bolt closest to rad to get it on (invidia o2 not sure about others), if you decide not to take out the rad make sure to tape some cardboard on it so you dont dent the fins.

if your not going to use the o2 housing heat shield again just use some tin snips to cut it off...

then the hotside and o2 housing should come off fairly easily...

If the heat shield is going to be a complete pain you may as well unbolt the downpipe and manifold. Then take off the hotside clamp, a gentle tap with a hammer should loosen it so you can take the whole hotside and o2 outlet out. If you disconnect the plug from the o2 sensor under the cam cover you can take the unit out as a whole and possibly spare your radiator.

FYI, I never put my lower shield back on.

Alright I got it out,

But in the process I bent some radiator fins. and a few bent fins all that bad? I'm almost certain I didn't puncture the radiator but I deffinently should be able to tell if I did when I start up right?

I don't think I could of punctured it, the only part of the heat shield that touched it was a bulge so it was blunt.

No you wont be able to tell on start up if its not leaking now.

If by some SLIM chance it develops a pinhole it probably will be under pressure so when its fully warm.
