Hey all...

Im just curious to know what the highest whp and wtq record is for an Evo 9 with the stock turbo and stock bottom end. Its OK if the head is modded with cams, springs, retainers, etc.; no head porting or anything though.

I would like to find out essentially what the record holder put down with the stock turbo and stock motor (minus cams and other head bolt ons with untouched stock bottom end internals).

I'm sorry you are gonna have to search, I tried to search for you, I remember the car, but it was taking to long. But yeah there was a stock turbo IX/stock bottom end/stock ECU (I believe) IX that made I believe over 450whp, but they were running an insane amount of boost, like 33 or 36PSI, I forgot. I also forget who help build the car, I want to say Top Speed, but I am unsure. It was posted a while ago. As far as dyno numbers that is the best I know of. Just search you'll find it, I would of found the thread for you, but it was just taking to long and I got to go.

450 damn...Thats not safe though at 33 or 36. I wouldnt run past 28. Agreed?

If he is on c16 and not getting any knock, then its fine. You can't really generalize and say a specific amount of boost is unsafe.

However, I will say that 36 psi is definitely pushing it and is far beyond the efficiency range of the stock turbo.

hahaha....thats a good one. The highest hp stock turbo VIII runs 11s which is high 400 whp to low 500 whp range. The highest hp stock turbo IX should be in the high 400 whp range.

HUh? You can't make random WHP guesses based off what cars have run in the 1/4-mile. Curb Brown ran an 10.5 on the stock turbo, but he didn't have 500whp.

I'm not sure why in the world you'd think the highest HP stock turbo IX would have high 400s. It's hard to even hit 400, but high 400s is absurd. We're excited just to see 20g-LTs hit high 400s...
