yeah, ask for the money......doesn't hurt to try. And besides, the doesn't seem THAT bad, i.e. you can go without replacing it (at least for now)

its a good idea to get a new lip rather than have that one repaired.. dont be greedy though, if they are willing to pay to fix it then be happy they dont put up a fight with you about it.. you can suggest an aftermarket part that would cost them less money to repair and wont need paint, and you can offer to save them the labor on it as well.. they might go for it.. good luck man.

When you go to a body shop they should ask you if you want OEM parts or some othere kind. So that being said you can tell them what kinda lip you want and they can order anyone that you want to replace it not just OEM.

The fact that the shop is willing to pay for a new lip and not just fix the old one is good. I wouldn't try to push too hard. It sounds like they are trying to take care of their mistake and pushing for much more is just greed. Alot of places would have given you a hard time about a new lip even, but replacing it is what they should do. You could try to get something not OEM but I would not ask for money. Makes you sound like you don't care about the car and just want the cash.

If it were me, I'd be happy that there is zero out of pocket expence and they are being easy to work with.

Yeah, don't push it too hard, and good luck. Hate to hear it happened, but you may come out fairly well.

thanks for ur input, yet the part is OEM, i got a work order faxed over while i was at their shop for the OEM lip after taxes. Being calm and professional about the situation helped them resolve this matter. 1 of their workers was complaining to me saying well its not cracked so why should we replace the whole piece? i said because thats how I would personally fix it myself if i had done that (of course, with a CF one). Whatever the case, I could care less what 1 of their workers thinks. The fact that the service manager was willing to replace and paint and install the lip was what mattered. If i ask for cash, its because i'm going to about getting an alternate part for my car and relieving them of any responsibilities at a fraction of the cost, not because i dont care for my car. But even if i wanted to be an a$$hole, i'd tell em why the F do you care what i do with the money? you damaged my car period.

and i dont see it as "being lucky" that theyre willing to cooperate. I work in a legal dept and my buddies call me an "a$$hole" in these types of situations because I know i have the upper hand, not them. If theyre not willing to cooperate, I told them i'd resolve this in another, more expensive route. Its their choice. I get very technical with every little thing and don't skip a word when talkin to people or disputing matters.

Damn. I would just consider having the work done and calling it a day. The owner likely will be paying using insurance, not out of his own pocket.

keep the money then buy a cf lip.

At my work i saw a lowered scion tc that had a cf lip get all ****ed up when it went in for a aliment. the alliment lift was pretty tall and when they drove up the car it cracked the lip.

I'm not saying that you don't care about your car, else you wouldn't be on here even talking about it. I just wanted you and the others posting to see how someone else could see it from the outside. These companies carry insurance for the same reason we do and I'm sure in the end that is who is paying it off. So yes, to get cash may have been possible but I'm giving you alot of credit for doing it the way you did. Very classy is all I have to say.

Oh, and to everyone out there... just because you can do something doesn't mean it's right to do. Remember that next time you make a misstake and think about how you would want someone to take it up with you. Being in the Army I've learned I can do alot just because of my authority but I can do more with respect. Sorry to get and I hope it all turns out well for your car and they match your paint up well.
