JDM bumper: install yourself or autoshop?

Wondering who got the JDM bumper installed and where, how much, etc.

Also where everyone bought theres?

Looking to pick one up this summer, would like to do the install but with rivets, etc. it might be better to have it done professionaly. Would like to hear input.

Thanks!

It is quite easy....there is a HOW TO on the forum here that helped me locate all the hardware I needed to remove.

its not EASY but its very do-able w/ alil patience. for the first timer, i would estimate it will take about 3 hours with all the annoying remove/install rivets

Yah it takes some patience and it's best to take your time with those rivets. Another good idea is to have more than one drill bit because they are thin and going through a lot of stress so they can break.

Another tip is if it is taking longer than 5-10 secs per rivet then you need to up the speed of the drill....I was going slow at first and it was taking forever....sped up the drill and it was pretty easy going after that.

I don't see why having a lowered car would make the install any harder....bumper removal takes like 20-30 mins....removing the rivets took me about 45 mins....putting rivets in took like 20 mins.......the part that took the longest was trying to get the height of the license plate bracket just right....I ended up just zip-tieing the bracket on because it was just as effective and not noticeable.....that and it was late so I didn't really care as long as it looked good.

not if you want it secure.....rivet gun is really easy....more like a stapler....it's really idiot proof....no experience needed...i got one for 20 bucks from home depot and it works well.....and there are actually a lot of uses for it
