The Freak Evo from SAUDI ARABIA (caution LS1 Inside )
Props are given for ingenuity and creativeness, but in my opinion the Evo fails to become an Evo without the 4G63 and AWD. I will admit if this guy can get it AWD then it should be a true monster.
Nope. It's easier to not read the posts and just skip to the end. People aren't realizing that the LS1 is an aluminum motor... the 4G63 is an iron block. Which is heavier, aluminum or iron?
That's why a 2.0 liter iron block is only a little lighter than a 5.7 liter aluminum block. FYI, a 5.7 liter LS1 engine is 200 lbs lighter than a 3.6 liter BMW M3 (S52) engine.

I've seen Evos running 14s too. So what?
Your point is, again, irrelevant. It's not important to observe what happens when drivers are unequal. Suffice it to say that stock Evos, LS1 F-bodies, and 06 Goats are all solid 13-second cars that can also dip into the high 12s.
You might be very surprised at how little the LS1 weighs. It's not much of a difference at all. The difference in area under the curve between a 500hp LS1 and the 500hp 4G, however, is going to be very significant indeed. And area under the curve is what wins races
Precisely. It's like the RX-7 fanatics who hold LS1 swaps with such disdain and make claims of such a big, heavy V8 ruining the handling...except, if memory serves, the LS1 driveline is actually lighter
I can't help but laugh at those calling this entire project a waste. Surely you can't say that and in the same breath call yourself a performance enthusiast?
Ive seen stock Evos roast camaros, firebirds, even 06 GTOs. And thats with a major Horsepower mismatch (the LS2 in the GTO is 400hp)
Do you honestly believe that a 500hp LS1 Evo would beat a 500 hp 4G63 AWD Evo? I couldn't find the weight of the 4G63 either, but an inline four surely weighs significantly less than an LS1. Point is, Mitsubishi engineers designed these cars with the 4G63 in mind and built the car around it.

Yes there is. In this case, this Evo has gone through total bastardization that it no longer represents what the Evo stands for. That car can no longer perform like an Evo, but more of like a Corvette, maybe even worse than a S/C Vette. Hats off to the tehnicians that did the swap, shame on the idea.

I just...oh, never mind. No point getting into an argument with people who won't listen anyway
that's awesome, if you had the cash and time to do crazy innovative things I would be there with a wrench in hand (although I have very little knowledge, lol). However the EVO is fast already, this would be cool on a normal lancer and get rid of that crappy 4G94, to bad it's so loud otherwise it would be a crazy *** sleeper. That way people won't be upset about "bastardizing" the EVO cause who cares about the 4G94? I don't
P.S. the S52 motor out of the M3 is a 3.2L engine not 3.6L

Man they're going to have to do some gutting back there in order to fit any stickies that will actually put any of that power down. I'm thinking mini tub... This all reminds me of those Evo shells they used for that South American circuit racing thing. Anyone remember what I'm talking about?
And before I get lumped in with the rest of the anti-V8 crowd.
I like V8s. Especially the LS1.
But I'm not about to try to shoe horn one into my EVO.
Now, if I had a 1st gen RX7 and access to a wrecked late model Camaro...
I believe it was Carol Shelby who once said that "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races."
I wouldn't call it a waste. But not something I'd want to do.
