I let you all down this morning...
the s2000 has this "momentum" thing. when that shiet gets moving and you row throught the gears at redline - each higher gear just accelerates with almost the same force. like an autmatic. no drop in acceleration between gears (well almost no drop, but u get what im saying). the evo - with dedicated fast shifts that dont drop the boost should beat the S2000. the evo definitiely feels faster than an s2000 whether it be from a roll or from a stop - but the s2000 is easy as hell to drive to its maximum potential. in the evo u gotta be paying attention so u dont grind and the drop in boost hurts too.
i raced a completely stock 350z from a first gear roll with no clutch dump or nothing, just roll off and it was even. i got the jump but he just held the same distance till the middle of 3rd.

Isn't that car (FQ300) for all practical comparison purposes a completely different car. ACD, AYC, stickier EU tires, different engine treatement aka horsepowah.
And isn't the STi in Europe a completely different car from what the US STi is 2.5L vs 2.0L etc..
People get to your local road course (or not so local, it's worth the drive). Start Your Engines and Let the real world, first person, experiences/comparisons begin...

**** i forgot about the ACD, AYC...... man the US EVO would have an even lower laptime WITH 300HP!!!!
As far as the Euro STi i dont remember if its 2.5l or not... i know its 300hp though..

Quite Different, plus they have a few variations. like they do in Japan with the Evo's Rs, GSA, etc.
But too much bench racing. Who's faster/slower then a XYZ on what track? I want to hear some track experiences.
Mine from this weekend was helping a friend learn how to drive a car. Not just cruising. He's making 320 awhp in his Evo and it certainly scoots. I think I could have pulled this Black 911 Turbo driving (10/10ths) his car. This was his first time out and understandble how he drove. Keeping both hands on the wheel when not shifting was a chore where I kept smacking his hands.
Often times I had to reach over and unwind the wheel as he kept dialing in more steering and it just kept pushing. I think at the next event, we'll have more time and I'll take him for a ride to show him what the car can do and calm him down. He really barely kept the car on the edge. But as a testament to the car, it made him pretty darn fast. Even with his off line, backing off early, easy braking, he was putting preassure on people and I had to get him to back off from chasing down a 350z. Since we could smell poor 350z brakes I didn't want him to freak out when he lost it, and lose it himself. Three corners later, the 350z went off.
Plus we couldn't find suitable places to mount one of my old simpson harnesses for better car control in time and had to just go out as is. Next time I hope we're running a set of track pads, though we had no problems, he was not as hard on the brakes as he can be. Also harnesses and hopefully some prep time in front of Gran Turismo 3 with the good ole racing seat and force feedback wheel.
Well that sure was long enough. I hope a lot of North Texas people show up and come run some laps on the infield of Texas Motor Speedway. It's flat, but hey that's Texas.

S2000 traps 101-102 stock. EVO8 does the same.
Its the launch that gets the good 1/4 times. Fastest stock S2K 1/4 with timeslip is 13.62@102.
Only race an S from a stop. And don't race on a smooth fast curvy road. They are made for the track and stick like glue. With the stock OEM tires at a good pressure and 80 degree weather the S pulls 1G and has perfect balance. Very under-rated car.

I wouldn't say that it was a defeat because he didn't really gain or lose ground. I couldn't tell exactly because when we started the race he was about 4 car lengths in front of me and when we finished he was about the same.

I raced a 97 VR4 from 90 to ~150+ mph (needle was in the dash half an inch past 150) and stayed pretty even..despite the fact that he had a rolling start from behind me and I didn't hit it until he was at my door. I lost.. if Im not in front.. I didn't win. Just the way I play the game.
Kewl! This morning when I played the game I smoked a few hundred people in my Slocus. I ended up in front SO MANY TIMES! Yahaw! I'm gonna slap me some of those stickers they send out in the mini advertisements to stick on the side of my ride.
