Works Ecu just installed, OMG
Anyone got a straight answer on running increased boost with the Works flash? I'm wondering if someone running more boost would notice an increase in power at all compared to the OE flash and 19psi vs. Works at OE taper-boost?

I can time runs with my turbo timer ....
Like Hedonic Tread, I got mine back on Thursday afternoon and reinstalled it this morning. I think Hedonic did an excellent job of outlining the experience.I haven't had a chance to put many miles on mine yet, but here are a couple of observations though.
1) I don't think that there has been any change in fuel cut threshold, but I do think that the revlimit had been adjusted upward. I shifted at the original redline, but the car never seemed to taper at all leading me to believe that it could be pushed a little further and still be in the powerband.
2) I did a stoplight run with a light lauch, hitting second at redline and easily chirped all four tires which is a first in the past 5000 miles.
3) I do agree that the power is exactly what I would expect from the Dyno charts. Very smooth with stock-like characteristics down low, then really coming on a lot stronger through the mid and high rpm range. Much crisper, and much more solid in power delivery right through redline.
4) No surging, or any other weird boost transitions that can occur with radical tuning. No indication of any detonation.
5)Roll-on power from 60-70 is also much better, and lesser cars are left behind more quickly than before.
6)The power gains are not as easily assessed because the power delivery is so smooth and even, right through redline. Again, from mid range up you wont be dissapointed when comparing to the stock EVO. Peaky power gains often feel more powerful but in reality are not.
7)I feel confident that the 93 octane re-flash combined with a 3" DP, race cat/test pipe/cat-back would make an awesome combo. I really doubt that another re-flash would be necessary, but who knows maybe a bit more power can be gleened.
8)As a standalone mod the reflash is still a great upgrade. It is relatively inexpensive, has all of the appearances and drivability of a stock EVO, with the added margin of power most of us have wanted as a corrected baseline for sometime. ;-)

a quick question.
the works reflash sounds really interesting.
my car is stock for now. if i get the reflash and get an aftermarket exhaust and ect... do i have to have it reflashed again and again?

you will want to get it reflashed for optimum performance. Works only offers reflashes for their products not for other manufacture's products. so if you get a ZEX 50 shot, i dought Works is gonna beable to do anything for ya (they don't offer nitrous upgrade reflashes). Check their website www.worksrally.com.
I was wondering sence i do have a test pipe and catback on my evo, if i sent my ECU in for reflash, could works give me the exhale program to compinsate for the extra exaust flow or will i have to buy the exhale product for the reflash?

I do believe Works mentioned that they could flash for an exhaust upgrade even if it is not their exhaust, but the results would not be gauranteed. The Works exhaust is a cat back system so who knows what that with a test pipe would do. I couldn't imagine it effecting it negatively. Probably just not 100% optimized.
