plain and simple you need HID, I would never buy a car that does not come with factory HID

Hey I got some Evo IX MR HID projectors for sale if you want. Not sure if it's swappable into the halogen version headlights, but I'm sure it is. I took these out of my headlights to do my retrofit, if you seen my thread on it. Anyways, let me know if you want them. I'll take pics of the projectors if you want, just let me know. Thanks.

So how involved would it be for him to just buy and install a set of HIDs off of a wrecked Evo?

Anyone know how hard it is to properly install a set of OEM HID lights into a non-HID equipped Evo IX?

IIRC, this requires a factory wiring harness that runs ~$850.

I agree that the RS/GSR lights are horrid, especially if the car is lowered. Ask me how I know.

The headlights were the main reason for my replacing a RS with a SE.

Excellent! Thank you for the information. Do you know where I could find the instructions on how to do this? If it can be done by buying and plugging in a new harness, and getting the OEM headlights, I would like to do this.

In my RS I had PIAA bulbs and nobody believed me that they weren't HID's! A couple months ago I did the swap to JDM HID housings and a nice kit from xenondepot that had philips components and a D2S bulb. They gave me the wrong adapter harness, so it made my job a little harder. (Get your voltmeter out and start with one wire at a time) The HID's were much brighter, and I went for the stock look of 4300k. My lights were great before with the piaa bulbs, but after, great x 2! haha

Okay, thank you. So in the end, would you recommend the xenondepot kit eventhough they did not send you the correct parts? I am not good with wiring, so having to test with volt meters and hope for the best is not my cup of tea.

For my needs this was the only kit I could find with the oem style bulb (D2S) The parts they use (phillips) are very high quality. I was kinda mad about the harness, but after waiting for 2 months (they were on backorder and my car was in the body shop) I wasn't about to wait any longer. And if your not confident about wiring , find someone who is. PS- my kit was in the $400 range. You could buy multiple "cheap plug and play kits" for that. Just something to consider.
