Evo to S2000: Opinions?
Fun, but not near enough power for me and expensive to mod. I love the open top feeling and can't stand the dash are the new ones still digital? I'm 6'2" and it is a tight fit. Great shifter such short and crisp throws.
Nope if the EVO goes a C6 with targa comes. For me I personally need something in the 120mph+ on pump gas to get my speed nerves to work right. The targa on the Vette is very sweet. With pics like this it makes me want one even more....not that this is a exact example you get the point.

I think its hilarious that everyone needs a car for "chicks to dig". Its kinda sad to rely on your car to help you out in that department. It kinda sounds like he wants something smaller and fun...so it kinda sounds like you have your mind made up. I would definetly check out the solstice, and the sky though because those are just awesome. I would take the sky or the mazdaspeed miata if i was in the same mindset as you. IMO.

the evo is by far the most practical and fastest of the two. S2k might be fun for a bunch of curves etc. but the lack of torque just turns me off. Sure, it has really nice HP and top end power. But by the time you reach all of that power you are eating the other car's exhaust. You give me an evo 9 with 5k into it and you put 5k into a s2k and i will beat you anyday acceleration wise. I would also beat you in any road course etc. All I would need is a few things MBC, TBE, cams, tune, and that is all the power I need. I could throw all of the rest of the money into suspension parts and be VERY close to as nimble as the s2k. (although never quite as nimble).
S2k's looks are pretty amazing though. I would own one, but would prefer an evo over an s2k.

i've posted this before, but the people that are paid to present professional reviews about vehicle dynamics placed an evo 9 MR as 4th best handling car in america. #1 GT3, #2 Cayman S, #3 Lotus Elise. S2000 was 7th.
there is something immensely satisfying about getting it right in a rwd. so for the romantics, the S2000 would be the better choice.
but there is also something immensely satisfying about showing up at the porsche club of america autocross and beating every street-tire equipped porsche and literally 2/3 of the r-comp cars present (all while having a total of 4 people in the car, 3/4 tank of gas). since i'm not rich and must be pragmatic when it comes to choices, the evo is just so much better in so many more areas that i couldn't recommend an S2000 in good conscience.

I was so pissed when this dumba$$ in a S2K wanted to show off and take off at a stop sign. I could hear his differential hitting every shift he made. poor POS car with a POS driver. I just wish I was in my evo and not my cadillac. but Ive been thinkin about putting a turbocharged northstar eldorado engine in that boat. I could run almost 9psi and surprise everyone. Id scare the hell outta that S2k guy
i drove in my friends s2000(hks exhaust, hks intake etc) and it is terribly slow.my evo at the time had exhaust intake, maybe other minor things cant remember..and the s2000 was terrible.i would never ever by one..
i actually ran a GT35R wit aem ems, fully built motor, head etc..450rwhp...pump gas for pump gas i took about 3 cars on him.this was with my 418awhp 35R setup..
if you want to get a s2000 to get away from driving a fast car around(not sure of your mods) then go s2000 just to have a fun driving car...now if your going s2000 to make it fast etc...stick with the evo.

Well I can say the same... matter of fact, a few months ago there was an S2K from Hawaii in TPR or DSport (can't remember which) that was 35R'd and built with whatever (don't remember specifics). So happens a certain local 35R'd Evo 8 stomped a mudhole in it's *** (from a roll). It doesn't matter about the money put into it (well, after a certain point it does). It matters more about the choice of parts, tune and whatnot. I'm sure that same 600whp S2K would get stomped on by some other 600awhp Evo.
after the run he went to my friend gus..and was like does he run NOS?lol....
but yes it was the flat black s2k in dsport, fully built by arias,35R,head,and 22psi @450rwhp( i think it was more of a guess on hp,bc ive seen many s2k over 400 with less boost)
i too drove my buddys s 2000, its more like a s200. Im 6-2, the car was absolutley uncomfortable. I love my evo, i dont know why u want the s 2000 over the evo. The evo is way better than the s200.(JMO)
The s2000 is a MUCH better overall AutoX car than the Evo out of the box. If you have enough money (you will need LOTS of it ) you can squeeze more power out of the S2k and have it keep up with the Evo on the straightaways.
I have both. I agree with a lot of what you guys said. All I can add different is if you want to mod your car, get an evo. If you prefer driving feel get the s2k.
tranny s2k>evo
chick factor s2k > evo
fun to drive s2k > evo
speed s2k < evo
moddability s2k < evo (cheaper to make go fast)
handling ? depends on how good of a driver you are
