Evo to S2000: Opinions?

In the very slight chance that the Evo X will disappoint (or be to expensive for me), I've been tossing around the idea of selling\trading my Evo for an S2000. I've always liked the S2000 and I've been craving for another roadster ever since I sold my Miata. I also wouldn't feel guilty for having a two seater since we recently bought a crew cab titan and we also have a van both of which can carry at least five. I'd like to here opinions on this especially from former S2k owners who traded for Evos.

My brother owns a '05 S2k. I get sick of the stupid small space, the way too harsh ride (and they say the Evo rides harsh) The stupid powerband. (You wait, and wait, and wait for V-TEC, and when it hits, you think to yourself "That's it?")

A miata has a much more useable powerband. Plus the speakers suck, and the car is too loud to talk on the freeway.

The car doesn't make too much power with mods, unless you revamp the whole thing and go turbo/supercharged.

I raced an S2000 that had a Comptech supercharger. The torque was non-existent but up top it was quick. With Hondata you can lower when the VTEC kicks in. I personally think the S2000 looks old and outdated.

S2000's with 2jz supra engines are pretty nice...other than that...they are too slow. They can definitely out corner most Evo's though (I have first hand experience with this). Their corner entrance speed is way faster, however there exit speed, especially on lower speed turns, is not so great. On straight aways they are turd slow. S2000's with turbo or supercharger upgrades are definitely a force to be reckoned with. They have the potential to out corner most Evo's AND pull away on the straights. Not many people can afford an S2000 with force induction though...

im a honda fan love the s2k but if u do get the s2k you're goin to miss the tourqe. even if u get the newer s2k w/ 2.2L motor it wasnt much of a big difference. and now since s2k's are cheaper now alot of people are gettin them.
my friends n i concluded that the s2k is the new civic. meaning everybody has one.

but since you have a nice daily driver then you should go for it n get a s2k

I contemplated the same thing when I had an Sti. I think the S2000 is good for small road courses/ autoX and have to be a really skilled driver. Since you really have no torque. You have to do the turns at a much higher speed so that you don't lose any speed/momentum you had on the straightaway. IMO I think it's a car that will teach you to be a better driver in road courses

The car is gonna feel VERY slow compared to the Evo. Take it for a test drive and you'll understand. It is a very fun car to drive, it just lacks power.

I'd personnaly rather get a 350Z. Power, torque and a 2 seater that looks bad as hell. Plus, they're running LOW 13's now stock.

well.. so i have an s2k.. after having a fully built evo. Yeah, the power band is a bit "different."

the space IS small.. and the ride IS harsh..

HOWEVER, the car IS very fun to drive... i'd argue it's ALOT more fun to drive than the evo.. on the track, and on the street. I love the s2000.. maybe even better than the evo.. just dont plan on going on long drives with it.. becuase it sucks to drive over 2 or 3 hours in.

The cool thing about the s2000.. i feel.. is that it revs till 9k rpm and sounds amazing. Also, it's arguably one of THE BEST stock engines ever built. Think about it, subaru and mitsu could only crank out 270hp out of a 2.0L turbocharged car. Honda did 240hp NA.

Talk to full race.. they say the head flows incredible amounts of air.. and the bottom end is stout. IMHO s2000 engineering > evo.

I like the evo.. but a drop top s2000.. how could you resist!

Although I won't argue your opinion (since you do own both) but even though the S makes 240 N/A out of a 2.2 (or 2.0), how much can you make with bolt-ons? Not much, since the S is made to make as much as it can straight out the box. The Evo, on the other hand, can make gobs of power safely with bolt-ons. If Mitsu wanted to shoot for stupid-high stock numbers, they'd be selling the FQ series over here.
