I guess with all of the crashed threads here and 3 out of 4 are ok, I couldn't care less- when I drive my evo, my head's on a swivel because people point and swerve into my lane, or they don't see me coming and I have to try to avoid them, just stupid drivers here in NC. The only ones that can drive are the ones who have nicer cars anyways.

I think little old ladies in general would have been more appropriate.

They must have tested one with no front crash beam due to a large IC

Anyone remember the thread where a Van hit an Evo in a side collision? Considering if anyone had been in the passenger seat they would have been killed for sure, you can clearly see why the Evo has such a poor side impact rating.
My Evo is a play toy... you can bet our family car carries a 5 star cash rating! I am I-Car gold certified and deal with these things on a daily basis. So believe me when I say that everyone should consider this very seriously. Even more so if you have child seats in the back.

I agree with you about family car on a daily basis but my 5 year old wants to ride the evo more than the rest of my vehicles

wow. I guess you should pretend the car is a motorcycle when you drive it and hope to god nothing hits you.

I always put my son's car seat in the center of the rear seat. (a little more safe)

I can't believe some people here would worry about
the side impact rating while the chances of getting
hit on the side is very low.... lower than you getting
to an accident. And if you're a safe driver that even lower
the chances of you getting hit.

If you want to be 100% safe then get a tank!

If any of you are wondering why I went searching for this answer, it's because I just had my first kid after 10 years of marriage wondering if I would ever have one. Now that I do, I want as much safety for him as possible and for myself so that I may spend the rest of my life watching him grow.
Then a few nights ago, I got onto the off ramp and was waiting for the light to turn green. As it did, I waited for a second before starting into the intersection. As my nose was almost to where the divider would be, I look to my left to see this f'ing fullsize Chevy pickup barreling towards me (front driver-side/door) at about 40+mph. Clutch in, I give it gas and ride the clutch to get out of the way (was turning so didn't want to just dump the clutch). Lucky for me I pulled up enough so that when the truck swerved behind me, it missed me by probably about a foot. Lucky also for the Legacy behind me, it had seen this and stopped giving the truck enough room to manuever through.
I thought to myself afterwards- "Man, if I had been in the Legacy my chances of being okay would be decent. I wonder how my EVO stacks up?"
Then a few days later, I was making another left when this f'ing Escort runs right in front of me.

BTW- it's okay for me to say little old asian ladies, because I'm asian too. It's like being able to call someone a *** because you're gay and not get any homophobic responses. And besides- it's true! I should have added Subaru Legacy Outback drivers too because man do they suck *****!

well after getting slammed into a over pass cement wall doing 75 hit dead on. i give the evo A+++ crash test rating from my own personal experience. Only thing is the way the car is designed 9 out of 10 the engine or tranny is going to be useless after the wreck.

The crash test rating was the biggest deterrent for me when I got the car.... reading this thread makes me kind of wish I bought an sti... When you really think about it, they have almost identical performance but with 2 side airbags, a five star rating all around and cruise control... If you took all that away you'd probably have a car that was exactly the same as the Evo.
