anyone running methanol injection with stock turbo say around 23 psi boost to cope with 91octane gas.
my local station stopped carrying good gas and now only carry's 91 and no other place nearby has 93. So im thinking of running meth injection to stop predetonation.
any comments?

even running 91 oct your car will be fine provided its not tuned to the edge on 93 oct. the cars are made to operate on 91 or 93 oct.

if you want to run a mth injection kit with stock turbo thats fine too.... but i would run more then 23 psi... thats a lot of money to spend just to bump the boost 2 psi. typically you can run around 26-28psi with the right meth kit tuned properly and sized correctly.

 

you wont be fine running 91 if you are tuned for 93.

Many people run meth with stock tubo so I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

 

ya but is 23 psi not big enough for meth, the idea of meth is to make it in vapor form so it will cool.

 

I have been contemplating the same thing after reading the most recent d-sport issue reporting 60whp gain on their test car a subaru legacy with the smc alcohol injection kit seems intriguing.

 

yea...negative on the 91 oct on a 93 map. run what youre tuned for...if you cant stay out of boost until youre tuned again.

i ran meth+93 oct and had around 32psi w/stock turbo before she would break up...so safely with 91 id say run no more than 27-28psi with a decent tuner at the helm.

 

meth also raises youre effective octane rating in addition to running a 50/50 mix that cools your intake charge.
