10K miles and never. Don't see the need as I don't go to the track, she's plenty fast enough around town.

Launching is the sickest rush ever, why buy an Evo if you dont wanna launch is how I look at it. Yes the factory clutch sucks but you can launch it atleast 50 times unless you burn it really bad. The factory clutch wont last forever and when it goes out, do it right the first time and get a Twin Disk.

Launching is quite a rush I'll admit.. But, AWD cars are NOT meant for launching.. You will either roast your clutch (4-500 bucks plus installation) or grenade your diff or tranny.. Do the math, if you play, make sure you got the money to pay.. It really doesn't matter how many miles are on it.. If you've got the cash, go have a blast..

My stock clutch burns when I launch... I've had about a dozen launches, and it burns every time. At least my drive train isn't getting most of the shock...

As stated earlier, when it goes, it's time for an Exedy Twin Plate

I'd do the install myself, but I still don't see why the clutch is slipping as it is. I guess I'll just put more miles on before I try again.

The friend with the 8 that I spoke of runs a 12.3 and all he has is the basic ACT clutch, and resurfaced flywheel. Also another friend with a 2.4L with a 37r still has a single disk clutch. He wants another, but doesn't have the money yet.
I havn't really looked around for clutches yet, so I don't know what all is out there. I was just planning on getting that same basic ACT my buddie with the 8 has.

11 miles as car had 10 on it when I purchased it.
FWIW,still use the stock clutch, just modified stops on stock pressure plate and they work great but they do not like initeria Dyno's,not enough clamping force for BIG Torque.

the stock clutch can go a long time when launched properly if your under the 400whp mark...once you get above that its time is limited...and if you launch properly your tranny and your diff should be fine...the people that break stuff either have way to much whp or just plain suck at launching...

http://www.ultimate-cc.com/EVO%20Vid...783@121.81.wmv is just one of many launches that netted no broken parts in my evo while launching...

Nice Ultimate CC! Were you running meth or anything for that trap speed? Stock turbo?

I broke a ton of crap on my 03. It seems like having the launch control makes it easier (05,06).

When I launch, I floor it for the 2 step, and just feather the clutch, never letting up on the gas at all. It stays on the floor the whole time. Is this correct? or should I be letting up on the gas some.
