How many miles til you launched your new evo?
How many miles did you wait til you launched it for the 1st time, and did the clutch slip at all?? I tried launching it once when I had bewteen 600-700 miles, and it slipped bad in 1st so I let out before it slipped too much. I tried again tonight with almost 1100 miles, and same thing. I have only launched it these 2 times.
details: evo IX 3in TBE, drop in filter, MBC at 22 lbs, and a mild flash(2 step raised to 5800) from Kevin D. I removed the restrictor from slave cylinder the other night.
Is it still just too soon. do I need to wait til 2k miles before I try it again??
I don't have many AWD launches under my belt. I'v launched my 91 gsx 2 or 3 times, but I can launch it hard, and it just smokes the tires(only because they have been sitting for a while and are a little hard), so it's easy to launch.
I want to take it to the track, but launching is OUT OF THE QUESTION. haha. pay $15 to roll out of the hole, hammer it, and run a high 13.
EDIT: I also want that black injen intake and IC pipe set with a front mount, fuel pump and tune, but not with the clutch doing this.
any input??

One of my buddies with an 8 had more mods than me, and is stock clutch lasted much longer, and he even took it to the track several times before he put in an ACT. I think he had LICP, ebay FMIC, 264s, TBE, intake and tune. he may have rune his 280s on stock clutch too. I think he even put on his meth before the stock cluch went. But I really can't remember fore sure, but i know he had more mods and miles than me.
^ Yea I have probably 15 on mine with the launch control at 6k. I can pretty much keep it floored and feed the clutch out with no wheel hop. I think more solid motor mounts help with reducing wheel hop (along with some assorted Whiteline bits). Stock clutch, doesn't slip.

First time I did it was around 2800 right after I got my oil changed, bogged it. Launched it very well for the second time around 3200.
Haven't launched it since and I have 10300 miles on the car. Although thats definitely going to change this weekend because I'm taking it to the track to see what kind of times I can put down with my Stage 1 mods.

jk. Launching is a good way to break something in your drivetrain or destroy you clutch. I don't launch my car often. I do it alot when it is wet out. And I'm less worried about something going wrong. If you do launch dont crash.
