Got hit need tips!!

Need some tips. At about 07:15 this fine day I was coming home after work and fully stopped at E.50 & 436 and that dump *** driving his friend to court for some drug deal was going about 45 MPH and hit me in the back . The damaged I can see so far is that my CF APR underpanel diffuser has a big crack in it, and my bumper is about an inch low with scratches on it from the hit. He had Esurance Co. He was in a rush to get his friend to court that he did not even get my name!! so I took his info and reported it to his insurance and an adjuster will contact me today to set up inspection day. I did not yet reported to my insurance Co and unsure if I should? What will you do if you were i my spot? How and what to tell that adjuster when he come to see my car? It's time to stick it to that a$$ hole.

dont report it to ur insurance.. y would u? his fault so let his insurance pay for it all. if u report it, even if you just say "hey, i got into a fender bender, just letting u know about," they are going to jack up ur rate even if they dont kick out any money...

cliff notes, keep ur mouth silent and make his pay for all your stuff.

ive been in about 5 accidents (none my fault, and only 2 show up because i had to make medical claims through my insurance.... this was about 4-5 years ago...)

Did you get an accident report? Cause from this point on, if you didn't, it could be his word against yours.. If the Ins Co doesn't have a police report they might just tell you to go pound sand.. Then you WILL have to call your Ins Co..

Ok his insurance co just called me to say that they just got done talking to the guy who hit me and they accepted liability for the damage to my car now they will need to send the adjuster to estimate the cost to fix it and give me a check. Now what a really good shop for me to get an estimate to compare the cost.

yeah man, you lucked out. The guy was actually honest enough to admit fault. Some a$$hat backed into my car and his hitch put a big etch on my front bumper. I stopped the guy and got all his info. Sad thing is, I didnt have time to wait for the police to come and do a report and he clearly said that I will deny any case that you open with my insurance company. The guy that hit me was a class act loser!

good luck with your repair

You're in Orlando. Call Sport Mitsubishi and get their repair shop to do it. They need to replace the items damaged, not refurbish.

Here's what will happen.

The adjuster will come out to look at your car and take pictures. he will then (without removing the bumper) come up with an estimate, and within a few days issue you a check. Now typically, people put off repairing this kind of damage, and cash the check... DON'T DO THAT.

There may be hidden damage that you don't know of. When they say they are issueing a check. Tell them the shop that you are going to, and that you will be endorsing the check over to the shop. Tell them the day you are dropping the car off, and ask them to have a rental car ready for you.

The shop will then pull off the bumper, inspect the damage, and if there is more damage, they will call the insurance company and get the additional funds for repair. When you drop off the car, make sure to tell them, that you will not accept refurbished, or "repaired" parts. That you specifically ask for Mitsubishi parts, not "OEM" or "OEM equivalant"

If you do all of the following and not let them push you around, you will be alright. Don't be intimidated, that's how they are able to get cheap repairs.

I have been hit, and had my cars in the repair shop so much that my shop guy was actually at my wedding.

Honest or not fill out an accident report, your ins will not go up unless it is your fault, if he rearended you then no problem. PLus your Ins will pay you then chase his Insurance for the money. Also report it the police if more than $500( Which it is) so do that. You can't be to careful. A few years ago some moron in a pick up truck .( while we were both stoped waiting for a parking space in a parking lot) . back up onto my hood litteral onto my hood ($2500 of damage) and jump out said" oh man so sorry my fault completly I have insurance no problem" I even went to the local state police to report the accident. Three months later the guy never filled with his ins company and when he did he said I rear ended him. I had a witness but she was in my car no they wound'nt take it. He could screw you and say you backed into him and then its 50-50 and you have ot pay your deductable and then your Ins price goes up. Just saying to take anyones word for anything just do it buy the book..

Sorry to hear about you accident good luck..

From my experience it seems like the shop that gave me an estimate and the insurance adjuster that gave me an estimate were using the same system to figure out labor rates, etc. Like it had a set rate for installation of the front bumper and painting of the front bumper. I hit the guard rail at about 45mph because my rear diff locked up, I got $3300 from my insurance and it was just my front bumper, fender, hood, and headlight that were damaged.

Both the auto body shop that was in the insurance companies system (State Farm) and the insurance company gave me the same quote. The day the insurance adjuster came he looked at it and then gave me a check on the spot. I had asked to get a check and fix it myself rather than the insurance company give the money to the auto body shop to fix it.

you call his insurance, and tell them what happened / time / damage , tell them you need the rental car because you wont drive the car like that. (that makes them to speed up the paper work) probably estimator will come to your house to see how much is in damage . do not contact your insurance because it wasnt your fault / good luck.

Yes, the adjusters and body shops use the same system, but the adjusters do not do an in-depth search for damage because they are giving as little money as possible. The body shops are looking for the most damage so they can make the most money. Don't delay things.. best to do things right away
