Considering buying a new evo
its tough enough learning on a quick car - then going to an evo. but jumping right into an evo is suicide. but hey - maybe you can be one of the tiny percentage of kids that don't wreck it in the first month. LOL.
While it's not our decision to make regarding what car you get, I am against you getting an Evo X, though it depends more on whether you just graduated from high school or college. Plus you talk about knowing how to drive stick, then you say it's been a while, then you say you were never really good at it. Sure, it's possible for you to improve your skill on an Evo and it's not like it's a requirement for you to master stick on a lesser car first, but if you're not good at it and try to be a hero on the streets, you are going to end up understeering your car into a wall. Sure, there is a dual-clutch gearbox that takes away the complexity of a clutch pedal, but there is a lot of responsibility in driving such a capable car, as nobody buys an Evo and babies it 100% of the time.
Also, I noticed that your current ride is a Toyota Landcruiser, which is pretty far from an Evo. Yes, the Evo is incredibly bad *** in any of its incarnations, but I really do not feel it's the car for you with your limited experience along with you asking us.

nonsense, possibly because of his age he is expected to do crazy **** with it. me i got my evo 8 at the ripe age of 22 and it was my first manual. the clutch is still intact no problems and the car runs like a champ. dude if you can get one get one. but by all means PLEASE becareful and drive responsibly dont try running every car that gets next to you.
The most expensive cars to insure are:
1 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
2 Mercedes CL-Class
3 Dodge SRT-4
4 Subaru Impreza WRX
5 Jaguar XK
6 Lexus IS 300
7 Honda S2000
8 Acura RSX
9 Nissan 350Z
Food for thought.

The Evo is so expensive to insure because so many people crash them. So people telling you to get a Miata is good advice, you can learn on that car and then move up.
If you can get any car you want then you should get a Bugatti Veyron and then sell it and use the money to buy lots of other cars

see what everyone is failing to realize is that they meant anything he wants as in honda, mitsu, toyota, mazda and domestic. i honestly dont think their gonna get the kid a 5 series bmw or somewhere in that area.
i just entered my sophmore year of college so when i say graduate i guess i really meant pass this year. and hell no i wouldn't have driven a evo in highschool. i wouldn't have trusted myself. i wrecked 2 cars before my senior year. but just to clear a thing or two up, when i say i never got real good i meant by real fast shifting / aggressive driving in turns. i didn't really have a car that could handle it ne way. also, if i do get an evo it will be a evo 10 and they don't come out till next year so i have a little bit of time to get some practice in.
True, but that's still a hell of a lot of options. If they're willing to buy him a 300 hp car they're not exactly limiting him very much. My parents would never have even considered getting me a car like an evo, they know what kids are like and have seen what happens when parents give them what they want not what they need (both are doctors).
