Considering buying a new evo
Geez, everyone is telling this kid NOT to go buy one. Well, if you think you are ready for an Evo son, go for it. Go do some test drives first.
The good thing is you already have a vehicle for your daily commute, keep the evo in the garage until the weekends. N hook up with some1 that already owns one and can show ya some tips n tricks.
Just drive it chill for awile, so you dont plow into a wall.

Because IMO his real one isn't doing his job. This isn't meant to be a personal jab as I feel this is becoming a pattern for whatever reason. Telling your kid "oh you can have whatever car you want" isn't parenting, it's acting like a buddy.
Both your comment and the comment you were commenting on are true.
Sorry for the Dr. Seuss-ness. I know if I had an Evo in my late-teens or early twenties, I would have crashed for sure.
A new Miata or Mini Cooper would be a good bet without getting to crazy...

Im 20 and my Evo was basically the first manual car i drove on the street. I got like an hour worth of learning stick from a friend in a parking lot and the time is spread out in months; 15 mins one month... a couple months later a few more lessons.
The car i had before was a 1990 Camry; which was REALLY SLOW! It is completly different: turning, handling, and the speed
I think you should give reasons to why you choose the Evo over other cars? is it for showing off, girls, racing.... if so then dont get it.
I dont regret getting the Evo; i love every bit of it, but i do drive safe and dont give a dam about street racing / showing off. I am paying with my own money and i think it is a different story if you buy your own car.
If you TRULY think you are ready for an Evo then by all means get an Evo
And... i dont think you should start a thread saying that your parents will buy you any car. That might annoy some people *cough* me *cough*... just jealousy thats all.

hey john!
i think you offended all (poor) evo 1-9 owners on this board by making bold (true spec though) statement 2008,320HP atleast thats the rumor can be more.
wait for 3-4 months and buy evo X (auto or manual) and see these guys in your rearview mirror of X and let them try to keep up with you with their trucks or box looking ugly cars
key point wait for couple months
So you're in your second year of college? That puts you at what, 19 maybe 20? If you crashed two cars in high school you're not ready for an evo. That doesn't mean you can't have a good car, it just means you have to be realistic. Start with something that won't cost an arm and a leg to insure, won't eat gas like it's going out of style, etc., when you're in college you need something reliable, cheap and capable of putting up with crap (basically like the ideal first girlfriend).
ok, first off i wanna hand over a big **** YOU to you. you don't know my dad and have no idea how good of a parent he's been. you have no right to critisize some one you know absolutly nothing about. if he really thought i couldn't handle the car he would go back on what he told me and tell me to pick something different. the reason he probably thinks i can handle the evo is because he let me drive his porsche carrera S all the time. just because you probably couldn't handle an evo at my age doesn't mean i can't. no doubt i'd have to baby it and practice with the stick. just because i've never driven a car that powerfull on a regular basis does not mean that i'm going to go ***** to the wall and crash it.
for all those who think i just want to "jump on the band wagon" or simply have the car to pick up girls and race around, thats not it at all.
1. i'm glad yall are all on the band wagon, but i don't want to have a evo just to be like everyone else who has one.
2. sorry if its something you have to resort to, but i don't need a fly whip to pick up girls.
3. i won't really need to go looking for a race, an evo would easily beat most of the cars around where i live, i'd know it so i wouldn't have to prove anything to myself. and i really don't care if other people think they could outrun me.
4. i want the evo because it is an amazing vehicle, i love working on cars and there are alot of things you can do with an evo, and finally it is a car that i could take to the track to race if i felt like it and got good enough.

^^^ if you maintain the level head then get one and enjoy. Those that are saying wait a few months to get the ten when it does come out is living by the "don't be the first to buy a new product" rule. PPL are catious about the new engine. Hate for you to buy one of the first ones and deal with the bugs and issues of new set ups. Plus you like working on cars, not sure how long it will before there is an effective perfromance line. Get a Evo 9 and build that up.

Here's the ultimate question, why do you want an evo in the first place? Why do you want a 300 hp AWD car? Fuel efficiency? Reliability? Nobody buys an evo to drive the speed limit and you're naive if you think you can fool us into believing that. You want an evo because you've heard its an "amazing vehicle" and want to be able to drive in an "amazing" fashion.
