wtf is this noise?

Ok so for about a month now I have been getting this noise periodically while I'm driving, I tend to hear it more when I'm at stop and just slowly taking off, it sounds exactly like waht it would sound like if an exhjaust was bouncing and hitting the sway bar, but that's not the issue. I hear it occasionally when lettin of the ebrake, and ocassionally when I'm on a hill holding the brakes when I let them go. Any ideas? 42k miles thanks in advance

by any chance did you check your brake lines or the brake pads itself?

yeah try inspecting the front rotors and see if you have any life left in the pads at front.

Sounds odd - but did you check the trunk-lid springs to see if they are hitting each other? Both my Evo's have made this type of sound, and it's an easy fix.

Look up under the rear deck in the trunk and see if they are vibrating together. There is a small rubber and plastic separator that has a tendancy to slip or move. Just try moving it to another location.

he has a point chaz, if you checked what I told you and that isnt the problem do what he says if "that" isn't the problem.......get it checked out from a dealer if that isn't a problem as well.

hmmm now i am starting to think maybe its the tranny or clutch. there is no slipping of the clutch and the tranny still shifts fairly smooth, but i was trying to figure out the problem just now and so i was in my garage going in reverse and then rolling up in 1st, each time right after the clutch grabs and the car starts 2 move forward it makes that clunk noise like someone knocked on wood. someone has to have some idea of what this could be. last resort is dealer. thank you

did you check the clearance between the dp and oil pan? you can check it with a piece of paper if it goes around it.

now how many miles on your evo? what oil did you use for T/C and rear diff?
