Help with seatbelt unlocking.

Ok well im trying to get the seat belts to release now, but they are as stiff as a frozen turkey. My car was in a wreck about a year ago and im assuming that the seat belts locked up during the wreck but im sure there has to be a way to make the release right?

o.O really there is no way to unlock them? This would be the first time in any wrecked car that ive been in that the seat belts would have to be replaced. Are you sure there isnt something i can do the the base to make it retracted again?

Im almost positive those have to be replaced if you actually using the belt during an accident. I know Ive sold tons of seatbelts to body shops after wrecks.

back seats are fine though, think its just the locking mechanism inside the seat belt base ?

Most newer cars have a system that jams the belts locked in an accident and makes it so that they can't unlock again. More than likely that's what you are dealing with and yes you'd have to replace the belts in that instance.

taking them apart is pointless, they are designed to lock up and jam up in an accident. taking them apart will just leave you with a big mess of un coiled spring....but if you do decide to take it apart watch your eyes becaue the spring inside may spring out
