Aero work, undertrays and misc looking for opinions
1st picture. This is the diffuser as seen from the back of the car. You can see it is just flat and straight. Looks like a "line" in the picture. I put the diffuser under the cover so any air that does make it over the diffuser can get out.

2nd picture. This is to show the break (bend) I put in the diffuser in the upper area near the rear sway bar. This break is there to keep the air from the control arm area from getting above the tray.

3rd picture. Side view of the completed/installed diffuser. The diffuser is installed with 3/16" aluminum rivets. You will need to buy a rivet gun capable of installing a 3/16" rivet to do the installation. You will also notice the DEI heat shielding that is stuck onto the undertray to keep the exhaust from burning it.

4th picture. This is just a shot of how the diffuser uses the rear two bolts to hold it up and secure it, also to show the cut out around the hanger.

About fitment of the diffuser. IF you are running someone else's exhaust or any style other than what is pictured here then the tray will have to be cut to fit around the muffler.
5th picture. The diffuser off the car and cut how it is shipped. The rivets and adhesive heat shield are also included. If you need to cut the diffuser to fit with a different exhaust the material is easy to work with. Just about any saw will cut it or even good tin snips.

that looks really good, I am eagerly waiting for the usdm rear bumper version.
Also David, did you finish building the plates for the front bumper that cover the holes on either side of the IC yet ?. the ones that you made out of carbon fiber for your RS look really nice.

On page 3 there is a picture of the front tray on the black car, somewhere in this thread there is a picture of the front tray on my RS. The trays we are shipping do NOT have the angled (wickers) on them. I am still experimenting with that.
Would there be any chance that you guys can modify the rear diffuser to fit YOUR exhaust? Mainly the Bullet version as thats what most everybody has anyway. I want the diffuser, but dont want to hack off another muffler, although I already have one (2 total) where the cat used to be now...
Sorry this would be for the USDM bumper
I will definatly be picking up the front tray as winter is coming soon and I was looking to get one anyway.
Looking good!

Since I do not have a USDM standard rear bumper on my car I am going to have to use someone else's car. It will probably be Trents. He is using our bullet muffler so the USDM diffusers will be a two piece diffuser if I had to guess. I think you wish will come true
Dave,
I'm hoping to get this piece as an X-Mas gift to myself for my EVO 8, with the OEM US spec 8 bumper.... I'm running an AMS 3" exhaust though so I know I'll have to do some cutting on my own
Damn I want that rear tray but my non angled exhaust is going to be gay to work with. I wonder how much cutting will be needed for a straight exhaust like the Greddy Evo 2. Cant wait for the front tray for 9s.
David:
Rear diffuser pics look good. Do you think the muffler delete pipe that you make for the stock exhaust would clear this ?
I am very interested in getting the rear tray for my 2005 Evo 8 MR along with the delete pipe. I left a message Saturday at Buschur Racing's shop. Please call me or PM me
Thanks !!

I have the rear USDM EVO8 diffuser built as of about 10 minutes ago.
I built it using our 3" turbo back with the bullet muffler. The old style BR racing muffler will also work and the Magnaflow will too but may require a little trimming as it is larger in diameter. I kept the diffuser as tight as I felt comfortable doing to the sides of the muffler. The diffuser is two pieces, one large piece for the drivers side and one smaller piece for the passenger side.
The diffuser will attach with 3/16" aluminum rivets same as the one for the JDM EVO9. I will supply rivets but I am going to leave it up to you guys to drill the holes where you want them. This can fit inside or outside of the fascia. For aerodynamic reasons it is better to put it on the outside of the fascia. The diffuser will also come with a stainless steel bracket that mounts to the factory frame in the area above the inlet to the muffler. There is a 6mm hole already there that is empty. It then goes down to a "T" and gives you a mounting point for each of the two halves in the rear. This will attach permanently two the two halves once they are all installed where you want them with the same rivets.
I do not have a picture of it on the car. I do however have a picture of the same basic design on our Time Attack car. I will post a picture of that so you can get an idea how it fits/looks.

Here is the basic design of the USDM EVO8 diffuser. This is on our Time Attack car so as you can see the APR wide body is cut out in the rear and also we had to cut a small slot for the tow hook to come through. On the USDM EVO8 diffuser the tow hook is covered. Other than that it looks the same.
i'm def interested in the front undertray Dave. Hopefully looking to put together a race car over the winter so i'll be in touch
