The reason why I am asking is because I had just sold my other evo, and the BOV didn't sound quite as loud as the one in my current Evo, and I couldn't switch them to test.

Anyhow I just have a helix downpipe, Turbo XS catback, and Cobb filter. It flutters under low boost and sounds almost like comrpessor surge under full boost. Is is sound normal for a stock evo8 BOV?

 

could be on backwards. or broken like my mr dv that is in correctly but i guess the valve is stuck?

 

Is it holding boost? Sounds normal to me.. do you have an open intake? I dont know what a cobb intake is.. if so, then it's normal. If not, then you have a leak somewhere for it to make that much noise.

 

Cobb intake is the cold air style-open. Yeah it seems to be holding boost i had it on a lift yesterday installing a lower brace and inspected all the intercooler pipes and made sure everything was snug. I just want to make sure that it's not surge.

 

BOV blows back to the tubro intake, which is open to the filter.. so it must be that you Cobb filter is letting the noise out?

 

Yeah that definately doesnt sound right. You can hear just a normal woooosh sound with mine with the intake.

 

Sounds like it might be on backwards. Its surging way too much.

 

Even when I had the factory airbox on it was still quite loud like that. I'll go and snap a quick shot outside and can you guys tell me if its backwards?

 

Yea, somethin aint right. Mine makes a whoossshhh with the intake, but doesnt sound like that.

iT IS 100% backwards.

 

+1 on backwards, also you should upgrade it to a forge or ix bov while your there.
