Vented hood + Intake + Rain

OK.. So i have a GIALLA Style VIS CF hood on my VIII.
The vent on the hood is directly above the Intake filter.

I have been debating on what i want to do to prevent water getting sucked up.

Either getting an intake box. (Exmaple: Apexi)

Or

Some sort of shield under the hood to prevent water from hitting the filter.

I am pretty sure i can fabricate a shield that will still alot the vent to be functional but and still prevent water from hitting the filter.

Same problem here, Still thinking about the best way to fix. Most likely going to make a cover that sits around my ARC intake.

Yea i have some sheet metal laying around. I am going to fab something up.

Then take it to a local mechin shop that has benders. To make it nice and neat.

Ill make it so that when the rain comes through the vent it hits the shield and drips away from the filter area. It will so work !!

if you use thin guage aluminum you should be able to bend it yourself. Lowes even sells a pair of wide specialty pliars for bending metal.

Good call, ill check out the pliers.

I have some different gauge sheet metal at my garage.
But nothing to bend it.

I made a couple things by cutting and rebitting it together
(fusebox relocation on my 240)

the apexi inducion box will not fit with your set up..But i think the induction box ,if you can make one, is a best idea.

If you don't want to fab something just take the measurements of your filter and order one of these.

I could be mistaken, but IIRC water can hit your filter and you're not going to ruin anything...you just don't want to submerge your intake in water or you'll hydrolock it.

Even if this is true i would still like to prevent water from hitting the filter any way.
Also help prevent dirt from getting on the filter also.

It was on the car when i bought it... I didn't have a choice..

The only vent i don't agree with is the front vent on the left. I think it should have been on the right. or not even there at all.

OEM GIALLA is 1600.00 bucks..

i have the same hood as u and my intake sits in the exact same spot.... i've ran the car in the rain and snow for 2 years now and i've never had a problem.... the intake got soaked, but nothing ever happened.... u'd have to completely fill the intake with water to hydrolock it

you shouldn't really have a problem with rain actually hitting the intake. I mean if u think about it when you are moving the rain is not gonna get inside as much. Probably more is gonna get inside the hood area when you are at a dead stop.
