I have an 2006 Evo X MR and mine calipers are fading in appearance. Everyone I know has to a degree experienced this issue with their calipers. Im gonna take my evo back to get this fixed but have waited cause it is a pain to drop your car off for an entire day. So it is not just an Evo VIII issue, its a Total Brembo issue wth them not using extreme high temp paint.

There are dealers who are replacing them. It is the Mitsubishi reps that think they are the big decision makers turning it down. Brembo said they talked to Mitsubishi about this topic and it should be covered. That is why they told me to write them a letter if the dealers are not replacing them.

you want to see mitsu do something you need to do this.

find as many dealers who will not help you. then go public about it and watch them all of a sudden step up and take responsibility. even if your out of warrenty dont let them use that as an exuse because you went there when you was in warrenty and they still did nothing to help. if brembo is saying there was a problem get them involved as well. may take time but the payoff i bet will be new calipers for every one who was involved

My '04 front driver side caliper looks white now because all of the clear came off of it recently. So it is not just the '03s.

Also, isnt there a 7 year warranty on paint? At any rate I have a 5 year/60k mile bumper to bumper but my dealer said Mitsu wont cover it even though they covered my wing no questions asked. I am looking to have mine replaced too.

Its not just 03's... I was just stating that Mitsubishi reported the most problems to Brembo with the 03 calipers. Something to do with the way it was made (defective).

Is there a TSB or anything on this issue? I will do a search here but just thought I'd bring that up on this thread too. It would be nice to have some actual Mitsu data to arm ourselves with when we call the dealers.

I remember reading somewhere that there was but never got a TSB number or any additional information on it.

Im almost 99.9% positive that the caliper peel is due to using brake cleaner, or other corrosive products while cleaning the wheel area...

Its happened to three other Evo's in my area that I know of, each time happening after using that BrakeClean or other type of spray...

Went to ALLDATA and ALLDATAdiy.com and that TSB is only for "cleaning the Brembo calipers" and you have to pay $24.95 to view it! F that!

I had a similiar situation as to my calipers fading. I took it to my dealer to find out that my car was not under warrenty anymore. But the pads would still be looked at but only by a rep. The rep would come out and take a look at them to see if it was just a faulty caliper or if YOU did anything to make them that way. If it is a faulty caliper they should replace them.
