Transmission plug HELP!

I've noticed during my weekly oil leak inspections under my evo that the transmission has a black rubber plug. Does anyone know what this is for? Reason I ask is that a couple of weeks ago Mitsubishi changed my syncro gears under warranty. I noticed today that the black plug was missing from the bottom of the transmission. It's been raining a lot down here and I'm afraid that water can get inside and cause damage. Is this possible? I'm taking the car back tmrw for a check. I covered the hole with duct tape in the meantime.

Where is it at? What do you see when you look in the hole?

There is a clutch housing inspection hole and it has a cover/plug that goes in it.

I think that's it. It was dark so I couldn't see inside. Should I be concerned if this plug is missing?

I wouldnt want that missing.

Here is a link w/ the part number and price. I dont have it in stock. I would call the dealership up and tell them they need to come up with the plug though.

If you decide you want to get it through me I can next day air it from Mitsubishi so it would be a 2 day turn around w/ minimal freight involved. I can next day it to you as well. Since its so small it wouldnt cost much to ship it.

Thanks I'll order it if the dealer doesn't take ownership of the problem.
