roll cages?

i am looking into rollcages for my 2003 evo8 i want to start going to tracks and i do alot of "canyon driving".

dose anyone have any recommendations on what and where to buy? i have seen a few bolt in cages online.

one i was looking at is on www.lancershop.com

but anyone else out there who has any experience with a certain brand and perhaps have had it be useful in a crash?

Autopower. If you install a roll cage, you have to drive with a helmet at all times.

Is this a legal issue or a bust your head on a quarter inch steel pipe issue?

Just get the Autopower bolt in roll bar you can get a shop to weld it into the floor and thats your weld-in roll bar.

Unless he is talking about a full 6 point that goes down the a-pillars, no you don't. Especially on Evo's, the autopower cages I've seen are well behind the driver's seat and no way is your head ever going to hit them. The only circumstance is if your seat comes unbolted from the floor during a crash. But then you have bigger things to worry about other than hitting your head on the bar.

Will a track (NHRA / IHRA) accept a autopower weld in cage as being OK for a 9 sec runs?

+1 a helmet is NOT required if a roll cage is installed. I have a 10pt cage for daily driving and it is completely safe.

OP: check out swracecars.com; they have a 10pt for the lancer which requires a little fabrication, but still is a good price for a 10pt cage.

if you going to hit your head in the roll cage when accident happening ,then its going to be more then a head hitting... pad it for the legg in the front and you good to go. If you worry too much then use helmet every time when you driving.

Last I heard was no, but I have no direct experience with this.

If you are looking into getting a cage and running 9 sec runs, I would find a good fabricator in your area that has knowledge and experience. Bring them a rule book and make sure things are done to spec. No point in doing a bolt-in cage if you are planning on running 9s. Get something built to spec to keep your safe.

True but I assumed he was talking about a proper roll cage and not a roll bar.
