EVO VIII & EVO IX fuel pumps the same?

Are the EVO VIII and EVO IX fuel pumps the same? I'm looking at buying a EVO IX fuel pump for my '97 Eclipse GST (as it flows more than my stock pump).

The reason I need to know is because I want to make sure I'm not going to overrun my stock FPR (no, I don't feel like shelling out $$$ for an AFPR). I've seen flow rates for an EVO VIII fuel pump on RRE's website and it looks like I would be fine but that is assuming that the EVO VIII and EVO IX fuel pumps are the same and I'm not so sure they are.

I've heard they're different in looks and flow rates.. I've heard the EVO VIII pump is a dark olive green color while the EVO IX pump is gold colored and flows slightly more than the EVO VIII pump. If anyone can clear all this up for me that would be awesome.

I put my old IX pump in my 1g and I think the fuel flow is to high for the stock FPR in the lower rpm's. I am not 100% sure on it though, I need to get it on a dyno and check the A/R.

Walbros are relatively cheap - why toy around with something not proven?

IX has a better pump but not as good as the walbro 255, mine as well just shell out the 80 bucks and be done with it.

The IX pump works very well and is far superior to the viii pump....I think I have heard that it should be fine to around 330 whp or so, could be more can't remember. AMS has a fuel pump comparison that explains it well. As for the Walbros-- nice pump I guess, if you can take the whinning other have commented on. The IX pump works well for me, factory installation, quiet, plenty of fuel..

Thats why I'm going with the EVO IX pump! Its cheaper than a Walbro 190, much quieter, easy "bolt-in" installation on my DSM, and will supply more than enough fuel to feed my Forced Performance BIG-28 turbo.

From what I understand, the OEM IX pump will handle anything the OEM Turbo can through at it.
