How do Identify a IX or VIII BOV ?

I bought a 05 MR that runs great except for the fact that it dies or has a hard time catching idle after a high boost pull.

Where would I buy a IV BOV the one on my 05 MR is all black plastic on the outside so I assume it is a VIII style. I did do I search on this, I appreciate any help.

The IX BOV is the metal one. Before the IX's came out they were called the JDM MR BOV.

but all IX's have them i believe. just do a search under JDM MR BOV and get rid of the plastic one.......lol

The Evo8 has a black plastic BOV that is good for about 21-22 psi I believe and after that it will not hold boost correctly. The Evo9 have a metal BOV that holds boost from 23-25 psi or so. The 9 BOV is by far better then the 8 BOV and to break it down in years the 03-05 have the plastic and the 06 has metal.

my stock IX BOV has proven itself at 27-28PSI. wouldnt push it any farther than 30 for sure. unless you are going big turbo like 35 or something then the stock metal one should be fine

Most VIII guys swap the plastic DV out with a JDM or IX DV.

My JDM or IX BOV would not hold 30PSI, Had to upgrade to the Forge unit.
