I used to have an VIII, I traded it for a IX.

It depends on the year of the VIII:

2003-2004 = put the money you save on front basic mods, cams, tune and save more money for front LSD. If you can't afford LSD then save more money for TC.

2005 = put the money you save on basic mods, cams and tune.

and if the VIII is on stock clutch save more money for that or get a IX and call it a day.

I love my 05 VIII. I'm very happy with it. But if you come across a IX thats in your price range, you might as well get it. It isn't called an Evolution for nothing.

depends. if your gonna go all out then get a evo 8. heck, all the fastest evos in the world are 8's. if your gonna stay stock turbo get a IX.

a big part of that would be because when most of all the evo8's were getting built, the IX was not availble...

Even if the IX's were out it would be more cost effective to buy the 8 if you were to go all out. Both of them perform almost the same with turbo upgrades. The 8 will just be cheaper in the end.

dude it depends on what your plans for the car are... if you want to go more than 500 hp go with an eight...if you are going to retain the stock turbo and do some bolt ons go with the nine... personally i love my nine and would never buy an eight juz becuase the trannys always seem to break in the eights...also buy a nine now, in a couple of years they will be worth some money sincing how they were made for one year...

I bet you the fastest evo's around are VIII's. But just for modest modding - IX is better.

Mod a lot - VIII
Not so much - IX
