Would I regret a EVO VIII over a IX?

Hello everyone, I was just wondering a few things. First, I live in Las Vegas and at the time there is only one EVO IX for sale and about six EVO VIII's and my question was, if I got one of the VIII's would I be missing out on any EXTREME performance advantages from the MIVEC? Which leads to my second question. My room mate mentioned an engine swap, was he just BSing or is there any other way to get the variable timing on an EVO VIII (without hassle or sacrifice of the drivability)?
I just don't wanna make a $25'000 choice I regret.

in all honesty....will you buy a 8 and regret it?.....no....not really...

Do you want every once of performance out of the last 4g63 to be produced?....get a 9...

its pretty much that simple.....9 = 30 to 35 more peak hp....better spool and another tuning option...thats about it....they also sell for 6 to 8k more than an similar mileage evo 8....

is it worth it?.....its up to you bro.....

You're right. I don't think it's worth 6-8K more just to go a year or two newer.

Thank you. ^_^

Get a 9 MR if you can locate one. But then again my answer is biased because I have a 9 MR

what do you want to do with the car.

stock. or light mods you will get more power with the 9.

if your going to get bigger turbo, etc. doesn't matter much.

if your consider spending a ton of cash on a engine swap, get a 9.

Well since I have had an VIII GSR and IX MR yes there is a difference especially when I had similar mods on each of them the IX is faster. Now if there is a substantial difference in price get the VIII becuase it is still an evo and you can make it fast as hell if you want to and smoke IX's and sti's all day. Like someone else said just a get the supporting mods and a bigger turbo and tuning and you will be in love. I have really enjoyed both evo's I have owned regardless so if your after resale or whatever just do the pro's and cons of them. You really can't go wrong either way it's whatever your budget can do in the end.
