Would I regret a EVO VIII over a IX?

This post was very help full for myself also. I've been driving a 02 wrx for 5 years now. I love the car but i want better performance, so I am going with an evo. Wasn't sure which one to get but i plan on turbo upgrade so I'm going with the VIII. Thanks guys. Hope to see some of you out there when i get it.

I would get the 8 it's the same as getting a nine minus the mivec and the slightly bigger turbo plus the 8 is cheaper and the 8's 4th gear is a little bit longer than the 9s. I run against the 9s alot and they only beat me by half a car length..mind you that 9 had a 3"dp, Cossie's 272/272s, and upgraded valves springs/retainers vs. my evo 8 2.75dp and HKS 264/272s from a 40 - 150mph run. @22psi on both on cars
I don't think you'll regret it until you drive a IX, maybe. I know I regret buying an Evo after driving a 450 WHP Mark IV supra, its awesome don't drive them or you'll sell your car as quick as you can.

I kinda wish I would of got a ix. Only for the fact with the mods level I plan to limit myself the ix would be faster. Otherwise I am pretty happy with my viii. Also I have not driven nor ridden in the ix. So ignorance is prob. bliss for me.
Regret getting an Evo 8 over a 9... probably not. Of course, I'd say if you can afford a 9 or find one for a good price, go for it.
I prefer the 8 because, personally, I like the 8 bumper better. I have an '03 which means no ACD or AYC, but it doesn't both me. Where the 9 is suprior with the ACD and AYC, I'll make up for in driving skill and better suspension

The 9 is nice for the engine though. Great power potential. But I really think either one you get, you'll be VERY happy

My co-worker has a 8 and when I took him for a ride in my 9 with similar mods he said my car felt like it pulled better.Its you choice though but I would suggest getting a 9.Good luck!
