Glad you are okay man... that is all that matters. It is only a car.

Looks to me like a total. $18k is easy, because OEM parts and labor are expensive. Also if the doors didn't open right after the accident, there's prolly a roof buckle - total for sure then.

I appreciate all the kind words.

It happened in Staunton Virginia, coming onto 81 south from 250. I doubt many here are familiar with the area but it's right near where 64 intersects with 81. In fact, the entrance ramp I was on turns into the exit for 64 east. The officer who responded was by far the nicest I've ever dealt with and god knows I've talked to a few. Turns out he's got an RX8 that he's modding so I think that helped

Actually both front doors open as though the car was new. Aside from a scratch on the rear bumper (which I don't understand since only the front colided) you'd never know the car was wrecked.

Glad you're ok, although the with the damage it looks like it could go either way.

Yeah, I figure it'll come down to whether the motor is trashed. Looked like the turbo -might- have come through amazingly enough.

Damn man that sux but the main thing is your ok.I would say your car is a total loss but even if they fix it I would be worried about permanent damage done to the car.Hope it all works out for dude.

Beg for them to total it if it's close, that car will never ever handle the same.

sorry to hear. It looks like they might total it. When I had a lady back into me at school, it was ~$2800 for a hood and ONE headlight. Time to upgrade to an IX.

Glad you are ok. How was it kissing an airbag?? If the engine is junk, you have a CHANCE of getting totaled. My buddy wrecked the front of his evo and it was definitely written off as totaled. Especially since the engine was catapulted 200+ feet when the car hit a stone wall! lol Unfortunately, the engine landed on the hood of a ladies car driving on the opposite side of the highway. That must be a scary sight to see coming at you! MIVEC bombs!

It baffles me and boggles the mind how over the past couple weeks I keep seeing more and more Evo wreck posts. I'm definitely going to drive a lot more defensively for a while until this bad Evo mojo passes us all.
