Take it to the dealer ASAP and get it fixed.

Before your stock clutch goes out and you upgrade it. Than they will deny your warranty no matter what.

Take off the TBE to stay on the safe side.

I had the problem with my car dealer fixed no problem. It happened again a week later. Got to lazy to take it back to the dealer. Started modding my car upgraded my clutch. Now after racing it I have a broken shift fork, 4th gear broke, 1st gear syncro was gone, same with 2nd gear, and now I'm stuck with a $1400 bill to pay for my tranny rebuild. My 4th gear started grinding after I got my new clutch in. Than it just went out and my car was stuck in 4th gear.

Trust me take it to the dealer quick, before the shaved metal gets in between your other gears. It's BS that our brand new cars have such ****ty trannies that don't like going into gear. When you force it starts to grind.

I would never let the dealer mechanics touch my EVO. I'd rather pull the tranny myself and pay TRE $800 for a rebuild.

Its obvious you want the best performance from your car so just bite the bullet now. Get the EVO 8 3&4 gears and toss an aftermarket clutch in there.

It just doesn't pay to dick around with mitsubishi. They will take forever to fix it and odds are they'll "F" something else up while they are doing the work.

It sounds like you shifted into 5th gear too fast and now damaged the syncro. 5th gear only has a single syncro so its easily damaged. Shep does offer double 5th gear syncos now but I don't know anyone that has one so i can't say it will alleviate the problem.

Its really not that bad to do. If you haven't done it before its real simple just take off the underpanel then take off the two cross bars 17mm i think, then the two downpipe bolts, and start seperating the exhaust pieces. Its that or void your warranty forever. They void it temporarily they void it forever!!!!!!!

I love The EVOLUTION, BUT I HATE MITSUBISHI I HOPE THEY ROT IN HELL FOREVER THE SCUM SUCKING PIGS, BEST BACK CARS IN AMERICA MY *ss!

Maybe get some shifter bushings and change the fluid? That combined with a heavier shift knob fixed all my gear-grinding woes.

You're misinformed. It's not your fault persay, but in a nutshell, this is a wide spread problem combining from dealerships not wanting to do warranty work, the general public not knowing their rights and misinformation. Let me tell you and listen...the transmission synchros are covered under warranty providing there is no aftermarket clutch and the output shaft is not damaged! This isn't meant to be a pissing match, so please do not take offense, it's simply the truth and honestly, if you're repairs weren't covered under warranty and you fell under the above stipulations, you were taken advantage of and should have pursued further.

Ok bro, think about it like this. Take 2-3 hours to switch out your exhaust, or have them void your warranty and you foot the $1000 bill to ship it off to shep to have it rebuilt. Up to you.

have had this problem since day 1 and it hasn't really been a problem. I don't ever slam it into 5th anyway. It'll always go into gear, just a little notchy.

I am having a problem understanding a grind?

So when you shift, is it harder to shift? Or when you shift, you feel a modulation coming from your shift saying there is something up with the shaft and the gearbox?

I mean I get a few notches when i shift sometimes. And sometimes its super smooth.

Are those notches, me grinding my gears?
