How I pmprovrd MPG/Gas Mileage
Well, here is my way of saving gas... buy another car for commute that get high mpg. I bought a suzuki swift on Craigslist for $1300, it gets about 38-40 mpg. I now only drive my EVO that get 10 mpg when I wanna go hell of fast. So, now I get the mpg and I get the drive as fast as I want when I want... not to mention my insurance went down $30 a month. try that, its working for me!
For those who think all evo drivers don't care about mpg, you're wrong...I DO. I don't think i care as much to be drafting trailors though. I stay on top of scheduled maintenanaces and try to drive normal when i should...should.lol.
For the OP, I got to 160miles at half tank before, on a mixture of highway and local (mostly highway) driving and only made 260 driving the tank all the way to E.
UNfortunately i will never see this during the winter.

Outlaws69, I've considered a 2nd car myself, but I was wondering what factors other than MPG & purchase weighed in on your decision? (Obviously you still went for it, so it must of been a financial benefit.) Like xtra maintenance on a 2nd car?
Also, how did your insurance go down? Is the EVO that much of a 'bad' car that if u buy a 2nd car and the EVO isn't your primary car, it's cheaper for the ins. company to insure both cars in order to keep the EVO off the road 50% of the time?
If this is the case I'm buying a POS and parking it in my driveway and tacking on bare minimum in insurance, that'd be saweet!

lol the turbonator is just a gimmick
I'd recommend a good tune and be gentle on the pedal, if you want to save gas...
but really if you have any form of a sports car... you shouldn't really even think about the gas mileage

I agree that following behind an 18 wheels is a bad move for saving gas. But your statement makes it seem like your bashing everyone that wants to not only have performance but good MPG's as well.
So with that logic why do people want better interiors? Who cares what the inside of your car looks/feels like? Strip everything, disable power windows, airbags, remove the the sound system and sit on bare metal because we drive a sport car and it should not have those luxuries nor should you use it as a daily driver.
In other words your argument would be similar to a drag racer arguing with a Road racer about not needing to good suspension because racing does not include turning.
Let me ask you something, why bother making a street car faster? There are speed limits on the road and accelerating too quickly is dangerous. You want to race then buy a Racing car and race on a circuit, not a street legal commuter. After all we all drive transportation vehicles, so lets use it only for safely transporting ourselves and others because opting for best of both worlds is not allowed.

Oh I know I mentioned tire pressure as a factor in mpg's. But this is just a reminder to check your tire pressures (if you live in an area that has 4 seasons).
Summer time I had 34 psi and now it was down to 25. So I inflated it up to 35 psi for mileage reasons. ( I know recommended psi is 32)
Honostly the car seems a bit lighter in acceleration and keeping cruising speeds. (slight noticable difference, not a huge one)
