Evo trip to Toronto.

Hello Canadian forum.

I'm looking to get some constructive feedback.

My cousin and his friends have been planning a trip to Toronto for this coming Memorial Day weekend (the day will be observed on 5/28/07), and I was asked to make the trip.

Natural they asked me to come along with the direct knowledge that Evo's are not legal in Canada.

Bear in mind that I was asked about 3 months ago and have never given a definitive answer.

The concept of driving my Evo in Canada is so tempting, but I anticipate the following obstacles:

1. 1,000 mile round trip
2. Puny Evo gas tank (just about 12 gallons)
3. My crappy gas mileage (think 15 mpg city and about 18-20mpg highway)
3. Police bugging me on the trip; my car is very very loud
3. Running out of methanol on the trip
4. Having customs hassles if I bring an extra can of methanol
5. Rock chips
6. Bug splattered car

Any practical responses as to why I should make the trip?

Thank you.

An Evo from the US is completely legal here.

You don't have rocks or bugs in NJ? lol

What's your other means of transportation if you don't take your Evo?

As for the methanol, no clue.

well I got no suggestions for your 6 other issues, but the one about Evo's not being legal in Canada only applies "owning" an Evo in Canada. By all means you are not a citizen of Canada, which means all you're vacationing here. Completely legal.

You can own one, just can't register one for street use. They make great lawn ornaments lol

I gotcha.

After re-reading my post it reads that I thought Evo's are not legal in Canada.

I should have written that Evo's are not legal to own in Canada without going through a lot of bureaucracy.

I know that it would be fine for a US registered Evo to be driven in Canada; as well as most US registered vehicles.

The bug thing doesn't bother me that much (I have a nice clearbra on the Evo), but I never made a long distance trip in my Evo in the Spring / Summer.

My longest trip was a 700 mile round trip to Buschur Racing, but that was in December when fewer bugs are around.

Between my cousin and his friends there will be three cars making the trip. If I don't drive my car, I wasn't planning to ride with them anyway and I'm not taking my DD Subaru or TL (which is on lease).

Basically for me it would be: No Evo = No trip.

Not a big deal; I've been to Toronto three seperate times in the past.

I appreciate your reply.

I've been to Toronto a couple times in the past few months. Another drag was 90 octane premium with 10% ethanol at the Esso pumps.
