evo 7 conversion

Question for guys who swapped to a seven front end:

I'm doing a 7 conversion on my front end, but i noticed that the oem hood latch handle sticks out too far, and actually gets in the way of the top of the 7 bumper. Do I just have to cut the handle for the hood latch down? Is there anything else i should know before proceeding with the the rest of the swap? Thx for any info.

Do you have an EVO 7 Hood?If not I think your gonna need one because I believe the EVO 7 and EVO 8-9 Hoods are different.

yeah i have a hood on the way. The problem is the latch for the oem 8. The handle that sticks out (the thing you flick under the hood with your finger to open the hood) is too long for the 7 bumper. It looks like it has to be cut down or bent or something. I was just curious how others approached this, and if there is anything else i should know about. thx

Hmm.Well Im not about that piece.Does Z1 auto carry the piece?Im not sure if you are getting the hood from them but I know they do offer the complete EVO 7 conversion so they may have the correct hood latch from an EVO 7.

if you got the VII front bumper, it wont match with the VIII hood. dont bent or cut, it's a loss, and u're evo gonna look retarded.

so wait on till ur VII hood comes in

Sounds interesting, I just got done with my Evo 9 conversion and was also contemplating the Evo 7 Front but I knew the Evo 7 needed the hood. Good luck and keep us updated.

i found this pic on lancerregister. The latch for the 7 looks almost exactly like the 8 latch, but shorter. Looks like all i have to do is cut it down. Thanks guys
