For those that have Valentine 1

I would like your comments about radar detectors. It seem that Valentine One is the best out there. I tried Passport Solo but it doesn't seem to work well. I ran right past a state trooper and the thing didn't even warn me. I'm sure that the trooper didn't turn his laser gun or is probably eating donuts. Anyhow, I never tried the VOne so I like to get some inputs on how well it perform. Thanks ahead for your comments!

My V1 is one of the best mods i've ever done on my car.

It's an investment that once it's done, you'll wonder why you waited to get it in the first place...............

I have gotten one ticket with my V1. That was in wisconsin at 3 in the morning. I was nailed with Laser radar.

That is one ticket, 7 years and over 100K in highway miles, most of which at around 90-100 MPH.

I have owned many radar detectors
Fuzzbuster
Cobra
Uniden
Passport
and then the V1. I will never drive without a V1 again. It is by far the best out there, and it can never be out-dated. If an upgrade comes out, you just send your detector in with a small fee and they upgrade it and sent it back. So you never have "last year's model"

Get it, love it, and never look back

Does the V1 show the direction of the threat even if they don't turn on their laser gun? I would assume no but just curious to know for future references. Thanks again guys for responding back to my post quickly.

If you're meaning that it points out cops to you, no, only detects k band signals and laser signals when police are operating radar and laser equipment

i have the v1 and i love it, it detects radar from so far away, but dont be stupid with it. cops can still trail you and get you, and youre still pretty f'ed if theyre using laser and you are hauling.

I got one before going on a roadtrip last year, best thing I could have done. Saved me many times, and probably some jail time in Alabama

if they don't turn on their laser/radar, there is no threat. What are you asking? The V1 picks up the signals coming from the radar/laser gun when it's on, when the gun is off, it doesn't emit any signals, but they can't clock you when it's off either.

The V1 is the best thing since sliced bread!

Question for you guys...I had a friend who used a beltronics power cord (one in the pic) with his valentine1. I tried the same thing and the unit powers up but doesn't detect ANY radars and wont make the usual 'beep' when switching modes...any help?

The V1 should be everyones first mod. it picks up the cops radar from such a far distance that you have plenty of time to slow yourself

Umm...so let me get this straight. You went by a state trooper and the detector didn't go off. Ok. What's the problem? Yeah the Solo isn't the best one, but if the cop had his radar on your detector would've picked it up.

You're post is a bit confusing. If you think that by having a radar detector in your car that it is going to just magically go off whenever a cop is near, then you are pretty much out of touch with reality. Also, a laser gun is different than the radar gun. If your detector goes off due to a laser gun, then you are screwed if you were speeding. The quality of the detector has nothing to do with the fact that once the laser gun is aimed at your car, it immediately has the reading. No detector can detect a laser gun being used in the area unless it is aimed at your own car.

Now that all of that is out of the way, the V1 is the best radar detector that you can buy. I have an Escort 8500 X50 and the V1 is only a little bit better because it has a better range. It doesn't really matter though because they both will catch a radar gun pretty far in advance anyway. Also, the V1 has arrows that will show where the threat is coming from but ONLY if the cop has his gun turned on.

It sounds like you need to do some research to answer your questions. Also, you need to search before posting because there are 1,000 threads on this exact subject.

V1 is probably the best radar detector, but remember that a radar detector is not a guarantee against getting a speeding ticket. Any radar detector is pretty much useless against laser radar. Sure, they can detect it, but when the detector goes off, its already too late. And since laser is directional, its unlikely that you'd pick up the cop lasering the guy in front of you. Speeding at night is another time when radar detectors are basically useless.
