evo 9: weight reduction??

There's also a big metal block for the US evos behind the rear bumper. A crash beam of sort, that's about at least 5-10 lbs alone. Just don't get hit from behind

lancershop.com....tons of carbon fiber hoods and other parts. the factory hood is actually very light and "most" carbon fiber hoods are actually heavier than the stocker. The trunk should save you 10-12 lbs if you go with carbon fiber. I think they range from 8-10 carbon fiber and the stocker is around 22. also, in regards to the rear crash beam that weighs around 10 lbs, the front bumper has a crash beam too...about the same weight. The stock seats are a little over 30lbs (US spec IX seats anyway). One thread I read said Recaro Pole Position seats are around 20 lbs with aluminum brackets. That could save you about 12 lbs for each front seat. Do all this and that would shave you 50-60 lbs no problem. Lastly, if you don't care about the A/C compressor, condensor and lines, yank that stuff out.
