Buschur or WORKS?
I suggest this package from Dr. Dave: The Power Package. I think the listed price is for an VIII, but I'm sure Dave could put together a kit for your IX.
Or just follow Dave's simple recipe for cooking up your own package:
cams
intake or drop-in filter
full 3" turboback exhaust
Manual Boost Controller
boost gauge
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
tune, preferably custom
This will get you 350whp, or very, very close.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the BR350 and the TR340 are both quoted in crank HP, not WHP. So, subtract whatever you think powertrain loss to be to arrive at the WHP numbers. I'd call it BR300whp and TR290whp.

Thanks for the other power package suggestion. I'll take a look at it.

I did the Buschur package on my old Evo 8. Buschur makes great power with the Buschur(Dyno)flash, but my car was loud as hell and the package really seemed like it was intended for drivers that really mash the gas. I'm sure dynotuning gets tailored to the driver a bit more, though.
My current Evo 9 has received mostly WORKS components (same path --- 3 inch catless TBE + bolt ons) and has been brainflashed with their P2R. The result was much more refined midrange power control (I assume for attacking corners) and a much less noisy package for my Daily Drive (with their RTP). Even though this is more to my liking, I have to admit that I'd invested about twice as much cash in the 9 than the 8 for the same levels of power, but with less noise.
Even though I've taken the 9 much further than the 8 in the mod path with WORKS, I can still appreciate Buschur's bang for buck mentality.
If you got the cash = WORKS.
If you're strapped = BUSCHUR. (save 75 cents for earplugs)

Both great - I have used Buschur and defaulted to WORKS when either Buschur didn't make the part or it didn't fit well (I have an MR and, for example, I tried 2 different Buschur downpipes to no avail, WORKS fit first try.
The WORKS products are eye candy and are overengineered but you pay.
Both are great, in fact, consider an AMS package too. Any of 3 are great for what you're trying to achieve.
Buschur will be most affordable, WORKS the most. WORKS the prettiest, Buschur is more form and function.
People will complain about each, ignore the noise. For what you're trying to accomplish, you're safe either way.

I'd go with most of the Works parts, but not all.
I'd do:
K&N drop-in filter
Cosworth cams
Works TBE using their high flow cat. Possibly substitute the Works Axle Back Muffler for the Buschur (seems to be a more direct path).
The Works drop-in filter is a BIT better, but not worth the money difference IMO. I think the Works throttle body is also poor $
erformance.
For the ecu, can reflash it yourself.
IF you have the money for the whole package though (brain flash), it'll be perfectly tuned though. There's something to be said about time vs. money too; don't have to worry about tuning it yourself, dyno time, etc. Just install and go.

BUSCHUR parts are the best, there proven time and time and time again, im sure the WORKS and other companys offer good parts dont get me wrong, but the quailty and price you cant beat BUSCHUR go check out the packaged deal in buschurs special section for $2200 its a GREAT deal,

We do offer the off-road pipe which will be louder but will offer more performance, the highflow cat which will keep you legal on the street and lower the sound level.
As for the muffler we offer our 304 stainless steel "Bullet" muffler which is lightweight, sound isnt to overly loud and has GREAT flow. We also offer our system with a Magnaflow muffler which is stainless but not as high of grade as the "Bullet", it is quieter, it is heavier than the "Bullet" by 4.7lbs and it does not flow as good.
We also have had people put a "Bullet" muffler in place of the ORP or HFC and run the Magnaflow at the rear to keep the system REALLY quiet and still offer great performance. The cost is a bit more with the 2 muffler system however.
If anyone has any questions you may feel free to ask or shoot me a PM. I will be glad to help out.
Also to whomever made the comment about us being more drag race oriented.... of course that is true as anyone on here would know BUT we have done road racing, have a good amount of knowledge and also have access to MANY road racers that we have sponsored over the past few years.
On a side note that really has NOTHING to do with the car making more power. After the power (or during those upgrades) you would work on the suspension and braking which is where the road racing experience and input come into play. We can also offer that experience and input.

I would have to agree with this...
a pipe is a pipe is a pipe...
short of worrying about fitmet issue (which i don't think either of these companies have a problem with) there is no difference in exhaust from a company that is primarily drag vs one that is primarily road race focused.
In general the majority of all quality exhaust pieces are on par with each other there are just subtle differences in sound and/or performance. At 350whp you aren't making enough power over stock to tell the difference.
you know not being a Buschur fan in the least bit, there have been plenty of ppl here on Evom and all over the world that have made great number and backed them up on tracks everywhere. that being said Works makes outstanding products as well and has be devoted to the Evo since its release. i still use the the idea that "you get what you pay for"
With either company the part selection is great, also with both they can make you as fast as you wanna be.
if i were going to drag I might lean toward Buschur
but
if I am going to use the Evo properly I lean toward Works!
goodluck

I do not agree with the "pipe is a pipe is a pipe" comment. Not all parts are equal or making the same power. If that were true there would be only 1 place making parts. Our exhaust has been proven to the be lightested and highest horsepower producing turboback exhaust available for the Evo.
Some places use resonators, reducers, etc... ours does NOT. Its a TRUE 3" 304 stainless steel design. Same with our intercooler piping. Its 2 1/2", polished stainless that eliminates 6 bends and 16" of length thereby reducing the flow restriction.
As I said.... Performance parts have NOTHING to do with the "primarily drag" or "primarily road race", etc...
Why does it keep getting repeated? Its a pointless comment!
Performance parts add power and torque. Both of those are needed in racing no matter what kind it is. In either drag or road race once you have the power and torque you can work on the grip, suspension, handling and braking.
We have PLENTY of customers who autocross and road race religiously as well as ones who multi-purpose the car.
